Sand Dollars Abstract The beach is a main catalyst in attracting individuals to cities and towns along the United States’ shoreline. It is a very valuable natural resource that is diminishing gradually. I provide background information regarding the process of both beach erosion and beach replenishment. Then I analyze two cities that underwent beach nourishment, Miami Beach and Bradley Beach, by comparing the financial aspects of the projects for these Florida and New Jersey beaches. This includes amount of sand needed, area covered, cost of project, and methods of finance.
His findings opened Spanish explorations and conquests along the western coast of South America began. The Spanish called the ocean the South Sea because it lay south of the isthmus of Panama. In 1520 a Portuguese explorer named Ferdinand Magellan sailed through it and named it the Pacific, meaning peaceful, which until this day the name remains the same. Balboa´s early life was a normal one. He was born in Jerez de los Caballeros, Spain.
How The Adams-Onís Treaty Affected The Growth Of Our Nation Americans were interested in further expansion and looked to the weak Spanish provinces of East and West Florida. The Spanish were reluctant to give up what is now Florida, but in the end they worked out an agreement called the Adams Onis Treaty. In this essay I will describe how the Americans eventually got these provinces, the set backs of the signing of the treaty, and how it effected the economic growth of our nation. Americans living in West Florida between the Iberville and Perdido Rivers declared their independence, and President Madison ordered the Governor of New Orleans Territory to take control of the independent land. The Americans now had control over half the territory they wanted but this did not satisfy them, this only made them more eager to gain control of East Florida.
The Exploitation of Puerto Rico by the United States Puerto Rico has had a long history of dependency. Puerto Rico was first colonized by Spain until the Spanish American war, which resulted in the colonization by the United States in 1898. While Spain was in the process of devising an agreement with Puerto Rico that would grant the island autonomy, the invasion of the United States ended any plans that would grant this reprise (Figueroa, 11/19/98). The U.S. decided to partake in this colonial expansion because Puerto Rico had tremendous potential for investment and commerce as well as being geo-politically strategic. The U.S. had intentions to take Spain and its influence out of the western-hemisphere.
Westward expansion encouraged by Lewis and Clark which led to the Oregon Trail and was later fuled by the California gold rush illustrates the American dream as people took a risk leaving the east to seek new opportunities and/or wealth in the west which helped make America the country it is today. The accounts of Lewis and Clark in their journals illustrated the American dream as they described the beauty and conveyed their excitement about the new frontier. One of Lewis and Clark’s accounts of their journey west was a visual observation as they looked out on “top of this High land the Countrey is leavel & open as far as can be Seen”(Pendergast, 110). In the east and in Europe, most of the land at that time was taken up by many civilizations and people which didn’t feel like a frontier. Their observation on top of the hill conveys the American dream of open territory where opportunity was waiting for those who dared.
The Chinese government have propose the Cleaner Production Promotion Law in June 2002 to kick start demonstration plans for the management of pollution in major urban areas. Some areas are also deemed as priority regions such as certain river valleys. Laws on the conservation of energy While the country has to continue to develop and progress its economy, they must also preserve the environment and reduce pollution as much as possible. In order to prevent the exorbitant development of industries that use excessive amounts of energy and contribute a lot to the pollution of the environment, the authorities urge that the utility of land has to decrease. The authorities also has to appoint environmental requirements for upcoming projects while trying to curb the fast development of industries that consume too much energy.
The impact of the waves of the Pacific Ocean against the land was eating away at the bluf, breaking it down into gravel. In 2001, the two proprietors decided to do something to protect their property. On December eleventh, Pismo Beach authorized a Coastal Development Permit that allowed them to begin construction of a seawall to act as a buffer against the erosive impacts of water that crash upon the side of the cliff (W12b). The seawall stands fifteen to twenty feet above the water and is one hundred sixty-five feet in length with a width of one and a half feet (W12b). Looking at this wall, I thought it was a shelf of sedimentary rock of which the face of the cliff was naturally composed.
And said that before construction could take place in any designated, environmentally sensitive "critical area" an owner had to obtain permission from the South Carolina Coastal Council. The South Carolina Beachfront Management Act of 1988 Passed to further enforce the South Carolina Coastal Zone Management Act of 1977, and extend the "critical area" further inland. Significance: Although the South Carolina Supreme Court decided that state regulations were designed to prevent serious public harm, the U.S. Supreme Court held that when a property owner suffered a taking, there were no exceptions from common rule ( the Takings Clause and the just Compensation Clause). Furthermore, when the state of South Carolina amended its original statute by including provisions that might permit limited construction, the U.S. Supreme Court held that property owners must still be compensated.

However, if any action is taken to defend the coastline, if you hinder in nature's course of beach erosion, there will always be after effects resulting from unnatural intrusion. This proves that any sea defence could prove a problem especially with the land owned by Nation Trust. Nevertheless if you could prove to the owners of the land to the extent of which erosion is taken place and show them how much LSD is affecting the area, action may well become a better option.
Furthermore, this location provides plenty of open space and fields that would give the Sun Microsystem architects plenty of room to build single story buildings that would give the site a campus like feeling. Once the attorney was notified that the real estate division had selected the location within the City of Santa Clara, the attorney quickly set-up a meeting with city leaders, and with the owners of the property, which was the State of California (CSC, 2012). The attorney knew that she had to act very quickly, because she had knowledge that other ... ... middle of paper ... ... and consider everyone’s ideas and feeling about this project.
