Introduction: The Lorax is a classic children's book written by Dr. Seuss in 1971 and adapted into a feature film in 2012. The movie touches on all aspects of environmental issues faced today that came about with the advent of mechanization and human consumption. Until recently, the human species has not been overly concerned with the effects that our modern processes have had on the environment. Many were simply not aware of the issues of pollution but the Lorax helped raised awareness and helped point society in the right direction. This awareness helped the environmental movement and people rallied for laws to help protect the environment (Barber). The Lorax is a straightforward educational film on how individuals can make a change in the world by being more aware and striving for sustainability through conservation, and help foster a green economy. The Lorax movie embellishes every issue our course material covers including the importance of sustainability, deforestation, biodiversity, and environmental quality.

All too often companies start mining or harvesting resources without understanding the long-term environmental impact as emphasized in the movie. The Once-ler act of deforestation resulted in the Brown Bar-ba-loots having no food source as they depended on the trees for food.
