Nowadays, the renewable energy sources are identified as a green, efficient and free available electrical power generation sources of the world. Due to the gradual warming of the Earth and the global energy consumption issues, in the most countries the renewable energy sources are replaced with the conventional power plants. Typically the renewable energy sources are connected to the National Power Grid and located near the power load consumption units. This means that the renewable energy sources at the small scale as the Distributed Generations connect to different parts of the distribution network. Due to development of Distributed Generations connection to the power grid, the necessity to create a smart grid to control, management and supervision …show more content…

The proposed research aims is presenting a demand side management algorithm with considering different power system disturbances in the smart grids. The power system disturbances in electrical power system could have different definitions. Voltage interruption, voltage sag, voltage swell, voltage surge and voltage distortion are power system disturbances that effect on the power system quality and cause power mismatch. In addition, the climate changes affect on the renewable energy values that cause unstable output power generation. In these states, the power consumption loads are in critical condition. To present a comprehensive demand side response, different strategies based on the smart grid standards could be present. First, the power loads at the disturbing time could supply by the storage devices. In this state, the loads based on the maximum necessity of the consumer are prioritized. Second, improving the demand side management strategy based on the heuristic algorithms in smart grids. The novelty of the research is programmed a demand side in the smart grids in presence of renewable energy sources such as Photovoltaic and Wind Turbine at the power system probable disturbance time. According to the previous literatures, the demand side management by considering different probable disturbances in daily power load supplying
Greater shift towards smart grids, smart metering and building automation: Smart grids helps in intelligent distribution resulting in minimal losses whereas measurement and reporting of consumption in real time is achieved by smart meters.
Lynn J. Good, the chief executive officer, or CEO, of Duke Energy has already made a name for herself in the Utilities industry. On July 1st, 2013, Good took over as the new CEO of Duke. Quickly enough, Good was forced into scandal. Hereafter, Good had to demonstrate her strategic leadership.
As the global population increases exponentially, having passed six billion in 1999, the world population is expected to be 8.9 billion by the year 2050. The worlds energy consumption will increase by an estimated 54 percent by 2025. Energy demand in the industrialized world is projected to grow 1.2 percent per year. Energy is a critical component of sustained economic growth and improved standards of living. One of the major requirements for sustaining human progress is an adequate source of energy. As the world’s technological enhancements and standards of living improve, so too does their appetite for electricity.
Nuclear Energy is a method of creating electricity by heating water from nuclear reactions. The process allows for large quantities of electricity to be created from very little nuclear fuel. Nuclear Energy creates only a fraction of the world’s energy production; this is because many people are fearful of the possibility of a meltdown or any other form of a nuclear disaster. However, even with all the disadvantages and hazards Nuclear Energy creates, it could become the most beneficial form of energy in the future.
Are you interested in not wasting money paying for rent and owning property that you can use to make yourself more self-sufficient? The stress of everyday life typically includes driving to work and a lot of other life stresses. Something you may want to consider is going off grid.
Putting the ' Smarts' into the Smart Grid: A Grand Challenge for Artificial Intelligence. (2012).
Energy is the basic necessity of daily life. Nowadays, dependence on fossil fuels for energy needs becoming lower in numerous countries due to the potential of renewable energy to supply sustainable energy to the huge populations in many developing countries who are short of clean and continues energy. Generally, renewable energy can be defined as energy that is derived from natural resources which are constantly replenished and theoretically inexhaustible. Fossil fuels on the other hand can be described as energy that cannot be renewed and will eventually diminish. Thus, in many developing countries renewable energy is the alternative energy to replace non-renewable energy or commonly known as fossil fuels. In addition, according to Sorensen (2004), there is a greater demand for renewable energy sources nowadays due to the uncertainty of fuel price rise in living expenses. Commonly, there are many types of renewable energy available in our world such as wind power, biomass energy, solar energy, hydroelectric power and geothermal energy. However, the main three example of renewable energy are hydroelectric power, solar and biomass energy (Refer to Figure 1 in Appendix 1).
Alternative energy sources are renewable, and is most commonly referred to as free energy sources. There are many alternative energy sources such as hydro power, solar power, wind, biomass, and geothermal. Using alternative sources is more expensive in the long run, but it is the much safer option for our environment compared to fossil fuels. Although everything used is completely free, such as water and wind, the equipment used to generate these things are expensive. There are several pros and cons that come with the utilization of alternative energy sources.
When you make your very own solar energy, you will be free of the grid. You may choose to be impartial should you be completely ready to get your location. It is possible to bid farewell to your power supplier if you wish to stay unbiased.
It includes substation, switches, wires, transformer etc. Like Smart Phone means a phone with a computer in it, Smart Grid means computerizing the electric utility grid. A Smart Grid is an electricity network based on digital technology that is use to supply electricity to consumers via two-way digital communication. This system allows for monitoring, analysis, control and communication within the supply chain to help improve efficiency, reduce energy consumption, reducing cost, and maximize the transparency and reliability of the energy supply chain. The Smart Grid is introduced with the aim of overcoming the weaknesses of conventional electrical grids by using smart meters where each device on the network can have sensors to gather data - power meters, voltage sensors, fault detectors,
Global warming is an extremely important and troubling aspect of the world’s current situation. This is due to the fact that the majority of the world’s energy production is from non-renewable energy sources, which are energy sources that either can not be naturally replenished or require thousands of years to be restored. Based on our current energy usage growth rates, there are an estimated 100 years left before our natural resource reserves are exhausted. (Non Renewable Natural Resources: How Much Is Left, Environmental Thinker) China alone consumes nearly as much coal as the combined usage of coal from the rest of the world. (US Energy Information Administration, China Consumes Nearly as Much Coal as the Rest of the World Combined) There is visible evidence of this happening with the increasing pollution levels. Carbon Dioxide and Methane pollution levels in the world reached a record high in 2012 and are 260% higher than the pre-industrial levels. (UN: CO2 Pollution Levels at a Record High, John Heilprin) Converting our world into a more renewable energy dependent society is the most advantageous and likely method for preserving our dwindling fossil fuel supply while also protecting the world that we call home.
Nuclear energy is generated by a process called fission. Fission occurs within the reactor of a nuclear power plant when a neutron is fired at an atom of uranium causing it to split and release subsequent neutrons.1 These are able to crash into other uranium atoms causing a chain reaction and releasing a great deal of heat energy.
According to DTI (Descon Technical Institute) decentralized energy can be defined by the technology used as electricity generated by hydro, wind, PV systems, biomass and combined heat and power generation which are renewable energy resources.[3] Proper efficient usage of renewable energy resources and fossil is to be achieved by decentralized system with combined electrical power and heat.
