Effects of Being an Overprotective Parent Throughout time there has been overprotective parents, especially with the higher class people. Every parent would always like to have their child be safe and not get in danger. Other times, parents do it because they do not want their child to be how they were when they were younger or they do not want their child to get involved with the minority people. Either way it will always bring consequences which could be dangerous. Some parents might not see the effects of being overprotective because they have never seen the truth. One of the things a child, whose parents are overprotective, will do is become addicted to parties, where they will feel free. Since the parent won’t let their child go to parties when they ask, the child would most likely sneak out of the house when the parents goes to sleep. They become so good at it that the parents would never notice their child gone. Most of the time, the parties they go to is not good for them. It could be crowded with people who are bad influences for the child. No matter who it is, whether it is male or female, they will always sneak out of their houses when their parents are sleeping or not paying attention. What most children would not know about sneaking out and going to parties is how parties could be dangerous to them. At parties a child might get drugged without the child knowing and get abused sexually. Which at times it could lead to suicide. When the child is in college, they will always feel like they have just escaped prison. Once in college, they might start failing school or even drop out of school without the parents knowing. The bad thing about the child being in college is how they can make their own decisions. The parent may believe their child is doing great at school, but it could end up being the opposite. Other times the child gets used to living with their parents and ends up getting lost in life not knowing what to do, but go back with their parents. In other hand, a parent might want to follow their child to where ever they go to college and still overprotect them until they graduate. If the parent does decide to follow the child, it would not be a good idea because the child will not know what it is to take
