Recommended: What are the advantages of living on campus

As being a high school junior it is coming time to choose what I want to do with the rest of my life. My dream college is Berklee College of Music. It is located in Boston Massachusetts, and when telling my parents about Berklee they completely thought I was crazy to even consider to go out-of-state. Well many parents believe that going out-of-state is not the best idea for their child. Parents believe that going out-of-state is too expensive, that their child is not ready to live on their own, that it will be too stressful, etc. but that is not the case. Going to college out-of-state is actually beneficial as the student will learn responsibility, experience a new lifestyle, see more options for their academics, and much more.

You want a fresh new start, a clean slate, a new you. When staying in state to go to college there is a high chance that you will see people who did not like you very much or people in general that you do not like. Can you say awkward? That is why going to an out-of-state college is a better option you get to meet new friends and make something of yourself. There is a less chance of running into somebody you know from your hometown at the same college that you will be attending. Well some students might ask about their high school friends. You know, your lunch group, your best friends. Well I am sorry to say, as much as you love them and will try to stay in contact with them, they are only temporary. Yea you might see them, maybe at your high school reunion, but by that time, you have your own life and they will not be in it. I know that might seem harsh but it is the truth.
