Alabama Educator Code of Ethics The Alabama Educator Code of Ethics is designed for every educator in the state of Alabama. The Code must be implemented for the safety of students and educators. The goal of the Alabama Code of Ethics can be accomplished as long as all educators value the worth and dignity of all students, parents, and staff. There are nine Alabama Educator Code of Ethics and Standard 1: Professional Conduct, Standard 4: Teacher/Student Relationship and Standard 5: Alcohol, Drug and Tobacco Use of Possession are the most important standards. Using drugs or alcohol during professional practice can cause harm to the student or teacher. Alcohol and drugs have different side effect which can cause sever danger for students or colleagues. Educator should never provide students with any illegal unauthorized drugs. Not only providing student with illegal drugs is violating the code of ethics but it also against the law. Drugs should not be on the school premise or at any school related activity. Example, teachers should not have alcohol or drugs at a school football game or a field trip. Teacher should follow the code of ethics and refrain from using drug or alcohol on the school premise of school related activities. Conclusion Standards 1, 4 and 5 are the most important standard of the code of ethics that all teachers must follow. Standard 1 having a professional conduct should demonstrated by all educators. Standard 4 teacher/student relationship should be conducted inside and outside the classroom. Standard 5 all educators should abide by the code of ethics of refrain from all use of drugs, tobacco and alcohol during school and school related activities.
