Footb In June of 2014, 561 billion texts were sent worldwide. Obviously that is a rounded figure, but that brings us to approximately 18.7 billion text messages are sent around the world daily. A recent study has revealed that an average person spends approximately 90 minutes a day on their phone. That may not sound like very much but that amounts up to 23 days a year and 3.9 years of an average person's life is spent staring at their phone screen. So obviously we spend a lot of time on our phones, but there is a lot of other technology that we use and spend a large amount of time on. So, do you think we are distracted by technology? I think we are distracted by technology because it is everywhere. There are TVs in restaurants, stores, different rooms in houses, and schools. We always have our phones with us and can use them at any time. The schools use computers for assignments and teaching. Technology is everywhere and is available to pretty much anyone and it is getting out of hand.
We are also distracted because checking our devices has become second nature. We always have them with us so if it goes off we just feel like we have to check it immediately. Now other people would disagree with this statement, but honestly they can disagree all they want but it's true. Some people would say that technology is the reason that we don't communicate as much as we used to or that we lost our human connection with each other. But that is not true because even though we use technology alot that dosen't mean that connection is lost or that we don't communicate, it just means that we do it a little differently. Even though that there is alot of people who uses technology alot ,but the group that uses it the most are us teenagers. We as teenagers have have grown up on technology. Most us was born in the 20th century and that's it when technology really grew. We use technology for almost everything, for example; we use it for computers, phones, T.V.'s and a whole lot of other things. But the most common technology that we use almost all time are cell phones. Cell phones helps us connect with each other through I-message or calling each other. We use our cell phones if we ever want to chat with friends, Text them, and Facetime them. Normally we get on our cell phones if we are bored and if there just straight silence in a room. Now I'm not trying say that we are the ones who do it the most because, that's not true adult's do it
Although Though technology can be good, it can be worse than good, such as people always with their faces on their phones and headphones in their ears, people neglecting books and using more online text, and people wasting their lives watching TV.Children now know how to use a phone faster than they can
...helle Hackman, a sophomore in high school, realized that her friends, rather than engaging in a conversation, were “more inclined to text each other” (Huffington Post). Michelle also became aware that over forty percent of people were suffering from anxiety when they were separated from the phones. This clearly shows that we are connected to the technology that we use, but we are also suffering from the use of technology. We spend more than half of our entire day using some sort of technology, whether that is a computer, phone, television, or radio. Technology is becoming a prevalent part of our lives, and we cannot live without it. Technology has become our family, and part of us.
Tugend goes over the impact of interruptions on work. She states that it takes a long time to get refocused after an interruption. Tugend notes that work gets done quicker when a person endures interruptions, but the work quality suffers greatly because of the increase in stress. She states that while other people are interruptions, the biggest interruption is ourselves (Tugend 717). Along with that, human attention spans are decreasing making interruption much more likely to happen. The time people spend on an activity before switching is not enough to really get into it (Tugend 717).
Albert Einstein once said, “It has become appallingly obvious that our technology has exceeded our humanity.” This quote is fully representative of society today. It has distracted us from..... One second my best friend just texted me… Ok what was I saying?.. Oh right; It has distracted us from our studies, our loved ones, and even our driving. Technology is making us less intelligent, oblivious to our surroundings, and antisocial.
That may sound standard, but that amounts to 23 days per year and 3.9 years of the average persons life looking at a cellphone. Although that makes our lives so much easier, it leaves us with a lack of
Whether technology is with us or hurting us, we still have to use it and it affects our lives daily. We need it to get a hold of someone. We need it to do our jobs. Most importantly, we need it to keep our lives away from harm. There are many ways to manipulate technology, but technology has more good to it than bad. There are those who use it for good, like investigators so they can figure out the real story. Then there are those who use it for bad, just like those who commit cyber bullying along with other minor and major things. We need technology regardless if people argue they like or not. There is no way to stop technology and keeping people from making it better. With the developments in technology, we may be able to enjoy all the pricey luxuries and still enjoy life at the same time.
