The title of the book I read was Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl. This book was of course, written by Anne Frank, but published by her father, Otto Frank. Anne Frank’s diary has left a deep impact on the world today, and has touched the heart of those who read it.

Anne Frank’s story first begins on June 12, 1942. She lived in Amsterdam, Holland along with her family to escape Nazi movement. Anne Frank moved along with her father, Otto Frank, her sister, Margot Frank, and her mother, Edith Frank. The young author is thirteen when she first begins to write in the diary given to her for her birthday. Based on what Anne says in her diary, she favors her father over her mother, implying that he actually understands her more. Her mother is a somewhat calm woman who pesters Anne to be ladylike. In my opinion, for a girl her age, Anne was very mature and articulate. To say she was a growing teen, Anne did not just write about boys, but she wrote about what was going on around her and how it affected she and her family. One thing she said that really moved me was, “ The best remedy for those who are frightened, lonely, or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere they can be alone, alone with the sky, nature and God. For the and only then can you feel that everything is as it should be and that God wants people to be happy amid nature’s beauty and simplicity.” She was fifteen when she wrote that statement. Girls her age usually do not think in that type of way. In the midst of the chaos and heartbreak going on in her life, Anne Frank was able to find a way to be happy, even if it meant looking to the small and unimportant things of life.
