In chapter 7 of Demo & Fine, the first important thing I found is that divorce can have a great parental impact on both men and women. For example, divorced women are predisposed to depression, and divorced men have easy access to alcohol and substance abuse. Divorced women are more likely to experience economic stress, stressful work and negative life events than married women, and divorced men lose social attachment and emotional support. Secondly, whites are less likely to adjust to the separation experience. Separated Whites tend to be depressed more than separated blacks, because separation is a more common experience for blacks than whites, and separation's experience tend to be more prolonged for blacks. The beginning of the book The Great Divorce by C.S. Lewis was difficult to understand and hard to figure out, but as you read on, you come to find out that this book is about heaven and hell and the people that go there. The narrator who is the main character in the book tells the story on what he sees from his eyes. The author describes hell as a dark cold town with alleys that people live in and no one to be seen on the streets, and heaven as this place that looks beautiful with green grass, mountains, rivers, and animals running around. C.S. Lewis uses different characters throughout the book to help understand the scene and the situations that are going on. The ghosts that go with him to heaven from hell are all different and play a big role in this novel. The other characters in the novel are the spirits who live in heaven and talk to the ghosts. Through the conversations going on between the ghosts and the spirits you learn more and more about what is going on, how characters got there, and their problems. The narrator listens to the two talk and from the conversation does he learn more about himself. I believe Lewis made this book so the reader can put themselves in the narrator's position and also think about their own lives and circumstances.

Amato, professor at The Pennsylvania State University, uses a divorce stress adjustment perspective to summarize the consequences of divorce on children and on adults. His research consists of five questions that help him guide his research to draw conclusions. Although Lansdale et al. argue that divorce has only negative effects on children, Amato shifts the research and puts it on a balance scale when he mentions some benefits of divorce on children. Amato allows the reader to see divorce from another perspective just as it can be evident in some cases that the effects of divorce can exist in some children even though they didn’t haven’t lived through the process of divorce itself (Block, Block, and Gjerde, 1986; Cherlin et al., (1991).
