Selecting the five important topics was not easier this time either; I tried not to focus on the regular and common topics. I decided to learn further on not typical subjects or those that are usually left behind.
Stress and Time Management: Certainly this topic is very close to all of us who work, study, and on top have a family or wants to have life besides work and school. As described by many, the health care field is an unpredictable and mostly insecure due to current pressures, and as we all know nursing is a profession where your emotions are immersed and your physical capabilities are at risk. Later on, other support staff positions and clinical disciplines like therapists appeared facilitating adequate and timely care to patients. Delegation includes appropriate thinking and understanding about what is needed and who is able to do it. In other words, it is a process that requires appropriate critical thinking skills. Nurses responsible to delegate activities to others should be aware of everyone else’s scope of practice, legal responsibilities and not least the patient’s best interest and safety. When doing so should also follow the nursing process and allow clear communication and expectations. Certainly, delegation facilitated the solution to many problems but always make sure there are no risks for patients associated, the task is of an adequate level of complexity for the individual who will perform it, how much creativity or improvement is needed, if the outcome is not predictable and the amount of patient interaction it involves (Bryant, 2016; Huber, …show more content…

The effectiveness of the communication will determine many outcomes in our private and professional life. Communication occurs at anytime, but in our field is at large the most used term. For example, the transference of indispensable data which includes accountability for patient care among healthcare providers is an important factor in the communication process in health care. This process may determine good or bad outcomes for the patients on treatment. Several studies indicate that the communication process used while transmitting medical information about patients admitted to hospitals and other healthcare facilities affect patient safety (Friesen, White, & Byers, 2008). Similarly, others have recognized that effective communication may affect medical outcomes, patient retention, and in some aspects, medical malpractice claims (Prakash, 2010). On top of this, I can add that nursing is a time honored profession and at all times we need to behave in a professional manner, it is important to empathize with our patients and attempt to understand how they may feel given their circumstances, but always establish a respectful and sincere via of communication, addressing the patients by a title and their last name, and If invited by the patient to address them differently, such as with their first name, comply with their wishes.
