Nursing homes have never been a happy place for me. They remind me of old age and sadness. It all started when my dear old granny had a stroke and was placed in a nursing home. With my mother being of no help the burden was left on me to check up on her. Every. Single. Day. I’m 21 for heaven’s sake, I have places to be and people to see! “Ms. Beckon your granny is ready to see you now.” I hear over the grainy sound of the receptionist voice from behind the locked door over the intercom. As I turn the corner I run smack into a young man not much younger looking then myself. “Watch where you’re going next time bud, there’s old people running around everywhere” I tell the kid also noticing he is quite cute. “I’m sorry, I work here my name is Troy. Can I help you with something?” The boy looks at me with a half-smile, maybe he isn’t so bad. “You work here? Well then can you tell me what this medicine they keep giving one of my family members to knock her out is?” My tone is rigid and questioning and he seems taken aback. “I’m not quite sure what you’re talking about, but down the hall you can find the person in charge of all medicine distributed. I come across a door with the name “Medicine Lab” on it and can only assume that this must be the place Troy was referring to. I knock but no one answers so I take my chances and find that the door is unlocked. I step cautiously inside the room. It seems like the room drops 20 degrees soon as I walk in, shelves are everywhere I can’t even see the other side of the room! Bottles and bottles of this red liquid line the rows of the shelves. I examine one of the bottles and notice something intriguing. In big letters it reads “Do NOT INGEST. CAN CAUSE DEATH, FATIGUE, AND WEIGHT GAIN.” Was this the stuff they had been giving all their
