2. At the atomic level, explain why a small gap is left between slabs of concrete on a footpath. At the atomic level, a small gap is left between slabs of concrete because on a hot day, the atoms that make up the concrete slab will get more energized due to the heat. When an atom gets energized, it starts moving faster and taking up more space. This causes the concrete slab to expand, until it closes gap. When the concrete slab starts cooling down, it will contract, leaving the gap opened once agian. If a gap was not created, during a hot day, the concrete slab will have no space for the exapnsion to happen without damage caused, and so, it will get damged and it can damage its surroundings. This process of the expanding and contracting concrete
Woop woop! Is the common sound heard in Beecher Terrace (housing apartments). There are 2.3 million people locked up in the United States. Kentucky spends about fifteen billion dollars per year incarcerating individuals from Beecher Terrace. Since the 1970’s the number of people locked up in the United States has grown from 300,000 to 2.3 million. Kentucky has been the center of this prison expansion. Charles McDuffie, Christel, Demetria, and Keith Huff all have something in common. Each of these individuals are repeat offenders, grew up or lived in Beech Terrace, and have some type of mental issue.

Many people go through tough struggles in their lives, but no one really sees it, and most of the time no one really cares. The Rose That Grew From Concrete was written by Tupac Shakur. In this poem the author uses conflict, the characters, and mood to illustrate that just because something shouldn’t happen doesn’t mean that it won’t happen.
The school, Ps. 282, is located in Park Slope Brooklyn. The Park Slope district centers about the Grand Army Plaza entrance to Prospect Park at the intersection of Flatbush Avenue and Eastern Parkway. Park slope is best known for its Victorian-era mansion and brownstones. It is one of the most romantic neighborhoods in Brooklyn. Railroad owner and land speculator, Edwin C. Park Slope experienced a horrible tragedy in 1960. December 16, 1960, United Airlines DC-8 and TWA Super Constellation collided in the air, killing all 128 passengers on two planes
Natural stone arches are geological formations that occur when rock is exposed to substantial amounts of erosion , which over time forces the rock into the shape of an arch. Stone arches are among the most diverse of rock formations, not only because of the large area where they are known to be found, but also their complex ways of forming. Although many factors contribute to making natural stone arches so enthralling, one key role keeps and hones our constant attention: each and every stone arch every formed will fall. Despite the things we do know about stone arches, they are continuously changing and teaching us new things about them as well as the world around us.
I would like to bring to your attention some concerns I have with the cleaning being performed in the 3200 building. Is she assigned to do anything other than mop the tiles? The chemical that she is using to mop the floor is so overpowering that my family and I have to hold our breaths from the time we leave our apartment, to the time we get out to the parking lot. Is this necessary?

Bricks, you always thought, were for the exteriors. You never really imagined a brick wall inside the house, leave alone in your living room. When I say a brick wall, I mean an exposed brick wall and not bricks cemented and painted over, which is, of course, pretty normal. The new age interiors have, however, changed all that. Today, proper brick walls inside the house are ending up grabbing the attention of house owners around the world.
Concrete poetry presents its readers with a unique and often confounding situation. In addition to using language or parts of language in non-traditional ways, concrete poetry also uses elements that are more commonly associated with visual art. However, concrete poetry is not visual art. It is still concerned, primarily, with the use of language, generally to communicate some meaning to the reader in a way that is undeniably linguistic in nature. Concrete poetry is therefore an especially unique genre that draws upon and incorporates many different concepts from a variety of disciplines in order to fill in the gaps left when traditional grammar and syntax are eschewed.
Roof tiles are designed to block out rain, this is because the tiles will have a ‘waterproof glaze’ ensuring that rain will not enter the home and that inside will stay dry.

Concrete is a composite material used widely in the construction industry. Concrete is basically a mixture of cement, water, aggregates and admixture (sometimes). Cement is a fine gray powder that consists of oxidizes calcium, silicon and aluminum. The aggregate used is normally gravel, crushed stone or sand. Admixture is a solid or liquid substance that gives a certain characteristics of the concrete. The cement reacts with water chemically and binds the aggregates together through a process called hydration during hardening or curing of concrete. It means that water helps in the hardening of the concrete while the cement bind the aggregate and also react with water to form a solid mass.
