Between the years of 1933-1939 were some of the worst years. These years were when concentration camps were in the making and running. These camps were some of the cruelest and disgusting places at the time. They were all different as some were gas camps and other ways of killing and others were just holding camps. In the holding camps the disease killed about as many as the death camps. The first cruel camp was made in 1933 and they all ran until 1939. The concentration camps from 1933-1939 showed just how cruel some people could be.
The people were beaten and killed on a regular day basis. One of the worst parts of these camps were the barbaric gas chambers. Men, women, and children would be fooled and dragged into chambers in groups to stand and be slaughtered by the dozen. Concentration camps are what can be known as the cruelest and most barbaric part of World War II history.
The Japanese attack against the United States in Pearl Harbor happened so quickly that most Americans were captured in the opening weeks of World War II. After the attack on Pearl Harbor, December 7, 1941, President Roosevelt signed the Executive Order 9066. This order authorized the evacuation of all Japanese Americans on the west coast to be placed into relocation centers. After this, over 120,000 Japanese Americans were taken out of their homes, piled into buses and cars, and forced into internment camps. With ten camps in all, they were located in California, Arizona, Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho, Utah, and Arkansas.
Many medical experiments went on during the holocaust, mostly in concentration camps. These subjects included Jews, Gypsies, twins, and political prisoners. The experiments included many of these people never survived many were killed for further examination. The Jewish people got the full wrath of the injections, inhumane surgeries, and other experimentations. Twins were also desirable in these experiments to show a controlled group. Gypsies and political prisoners were experimented with, because they were there for the Germans disposal. Thousands of people died in these horrible experiments. These experiments were performed to show how the Jewish race was inferior to the Aryan race.
How would you feel if you were forced out of your home to go to a camp where you shall be incarcerated for an unknown amount of time in an unknown location. You have no idea what will happen to you and your family. Why were you forced into the camps? Because of your ethnicity or beliefs. Japanese internment camps and Holocaust concentration camps both left their hateful marks in the fabric of history. During World War II, the Holocaust concentration camps were located around Central or Eastern Europe while the Japanese internment camps were located in the Western United States. Both types of camps have interesting similarities. However, one must realize that despite this similarities, these camps were very different in many ways. Yet, one thing is certain. We must learn more about this dark time in history in order to prevent such acts of hatred and paranoia from ever happening again.

It has been estimated to be around 15,000,000 concentration camps that were established from small to large ones. (Concentration Camp Listing, 2010) One of the most commonly known concentration camps was the one located in Auschwitz, this particular concentration camp was were diseases and epidemics prevailed due to poor living conditions. (living conditions, labor and executions) Examples of these living conditions are prisoners lived in several hundred three-tier wooden bunk beds in old barracks, due to overcrowding the basements and lofts were forced to be used, more than 700 people were set to each barrack, had no sanitary facilities. (living conditions, labor and executions) These poor living conditions were so disgusting and shocking, a bunk bed made for two holding around 5-8 Jewish men and women. (Holocaust, 2010) In some parts of the concentration camps jews had to sleep in barracks that were actually stables that were meant to hold 52 horses each. There were hundreds living in each of these barracks/stables. (living conditions, labor and executions) The mattresses that these jewish prisoners slept on varied from hard wood or straw on hard wood, things worsened once prisoners started to get diarrhea and the foulness of the smell from damp, and leaking roofs along with the diarrhea. Along with the foul smell came various vermin and rats that swarmed all the barrack spreading diseases. ...

In the early years of Hitler's reign, concentration camps were places that held people in protective custody. These people in protective custody included those who were both physically and mentally ill, gypsies, homosexuals, Jehovah Witnesses, Jews and anyone against the Nazi regime. The holocaust was a horrific period of time where unbelievable criminal acts were carried out against the Jews, Gypsies, and other racial gatherings. These defenseless individuals were sent from unsanitary ghettos to death camps, one being Auschwitz. The Auschwitz death camp comprised of three camps, all in which are placed in Poland. Numerous forms of extermination came about overtime to speed up the killing process. Life at the death camps was cut short for those who weren’t fit to work; such as the elderly, women, the mentally disabled, and young children. The others were put work while being starved to death. Experiments were held on dwarfs, twins, and other misfits were carried out by Josef Mengele. These inhuman acts against the Jews were all held in secret from society by the Nazis until liberation day.
When the Nazis came into power in the 1930’s, they began to round up the Jews, and send them to concentration camps. The number of Jews that they gathered up was imaginable. The Jews were forced to do hard labor in the camps. Others soon died or were later to “death camps”, as they were called.
