French Country VS French Rococo

In the world of interior decorating, there French were known for bringing two well-known designs, French Country (or French Provincial) and French Rococo. Both different but similar, these styles can both be merged with today’s modern designs for a fresh, new look. How are these two designs different? Which is more your style preference?

French Country
French Provincial was associated with Provence, where the rural areas remained, for the most part, unchanged and its rustic textures, colours and primitive furnishings were inspired by the French countryside.

Regions differ in style and texture because of what’s available and popular. You can bet that you will see lavender and other colours that replicate wildflowers, countryside and greenery. This look fits well into both country houses and elegant chateaux with a warm and casual feel.

Colours that were used to decorate come from all over the spectrum. A lot of sunny yellows, soft golds, fiery reds, burnt rust, bright grass green, hunter green, cobalt blue and soft ocean tones. These colours were either used by themselves or as a combination.

An important tip to remember about French Country decorating its to use natural materials. Usually rough stained or painted plaster walls, heft beamed ceilings and walls, delicate carved wood details and chair seats woven of rush all give texture to the space, along with natural stone floors, which are commonly covered with wool or cotton rugs.
