The Roman Republic and the Greek City-State had many political, social, and cultural similarities and differences that molded their government and their states. Both had an economical boom and had their culture flourished gaining prosperity and achievements in the beginning. However, Greeks and Romans had different perspective on women in governmental issues, had well-organized political processes and similarity in arts and literature, but different military stabilizations post-war. Both Rome and Greeks traditions and values were based off and inspired by each other. Throughout their time, their differences and similarities of their societal and political values eventually caused the downfall of their government during the Classical Age. The Greeks for their arts especially influenced the Romans. “Unlike the practice of the Greek-City states, The Romans absorbed conquered peoples into their population as citizens or allies. In the process they were also exposed to new forms of arts, literature, and languages…” (Lualdi 107). Greek art helped Rome’s cultural development and they even copied some forms of art that Greeks had developed. In addition, the Romans and the Greeks both had similar political processes in which they maintained their government. “The Romans and the Greeks had political procedures for removing a government official not adequately performing his role,” (Leddy). Eventually both civilizations were under the rule of a monarchy. “When Alexander’s commanders transformed themselves into Hellenistic kings after his death, they reintroduced monarchy into the Greek world…” (Hunt, 135).
