Community service is more than just hours; you are not being paid, just going out to service the community out the kindness of your heart. Community service is based on the acts performed by someone with the purpose of helping or bringing benefits to his or her community, the joy of giving back to the community. Doing community service is a great way to get involved with the community. There are always people and businesses looking for help, and it is usually easy to find a way to help. When I had to do this volunteer services for psychology, I was excited because I am already actively involved with helping the community, from volunteering back at home to volunteering here in Augusta. I do this anytime I am free or going home for a weekend, and during breaks. What you do is you put your PYX which is a small gold container used to put communion in. You put it on the alter for the priest to pray over it during service, at the end of service you go and collect it and take it to someone you know or may not know that may be sick, or in the hospital who is wanting communion. What I do is I borrow the book from church and after mass I go whoever requested the holy communion and just re-read the reading from church, sing and praise, do communion that is it. I never leave after that I stay back to just talk with them and see how their day is going, and any other way I could assist them before I leave. I also deliver medicine to the people who do not have a way to get their medicine, I usually travel close by me. This was a great experience because, I was able to work with patients and meet the staff members from all over the city of Conyers, Covington, and Atlanta and learn about their life experiences.
