Climate Change Affecting The Freshwater Biome

There is no greater problem than climate change and it is impacting the whole world as we speak. We must take action now before it’s too late. I am Dr. Escalante and I am here to talk about how climate change is affecting the freshwater biome. Climate change is real and we need to stop it immediately. The freshwater biome has definitely been affected. Since 1990 Greenland’s sheets of ice are melting two times faster than before. If climate change continues then the rivers will be polluted with toxic chemicals, there will be a rise in sea levels around the world, drought in the rivers, the freshwater organisms will die, and many more things could happen as well. This proposal is based on historical and current events will address the effect …show more content…

The temperature is very important, if the temperature is warmer, then there will be less dissolved oxygen for the organisms and some won't be able to survive. This clearly shows how climate change is influencing the state of the freshwater biome. Some ways that climate change is impacting or will impact the freshwater biome is that rivers will disappear because they are fed by glaciers, which are melting and rising the sea levels. The effects of the rivers disappearing are negative because many people rely on rivers for fresh drinking water, water to grow crops, and sometimes for electricity for hydroelectric plants. Climate change is impacting the weather, there is now extreme weather which can be very dangerous, the weather could create floods, droughts, heat waves, acid rain, and extreme storms which can harm many people. “Extreme weather events are expected to increase in frequency and intensity as the climate changes,” is what the Norwegian Environment Agency said. Freshwater quality has also gone down, which will kill millions of animals and will reduce Earth's biodiversity. Not only does climate change impact the environment it is also impacting …show more content…

Climate change was bound to happen, but we have made it way worse and we have sped up the process by using up fossil fuels, which is creating all kinds of pollutions. Industrialization has caused natural resources to run out and has damaged the freshwater biome. One of the most recognized and influential leaders of our country also agreed that Climate Change needs to be fixed, Theodore Roosevelt said, “The time has come for a change.” Climate Change has affected everyone, you might not have realized it, but even you have been affected! If we all don’t do our part and try to help prevent climate change from going further than it already has, then the world will be over before you know it! So go outside enjoy the fresh air that we have (for now) and tell the whole world about the dangers of releasing toxic chemicals into the water sources and stop it. Remember we can’t do this without
