Having the opportunity to go through the entire hiring process for a contract position was great practice for me as a future leader. There were several steps that my administrators and I followed; they may not be the steps that other leaders go through. However, they worked well for us/me, and I felt as though I gained knowledge from our process.
*I created a list of several interview questions that I share with my principal. There were incorporated into the interview. Here are the questions.
1. How would you motivate a non-motivated student?
2. How would you handle late work? i.e. Loss of points? Detention? Call parents? What is your philosophy on it?
3. What made you decide to go into teaching?
4. What are a few things you would do to build positive relationships with your students? Parents? Co-workers?
5. Explain your classroom management.

Our second interviewee was a brand new teacher too. Those two interviews were not bad interviews, but you could tell they were both nervous. Neither of them could thoroughly answer several of our questions.
*The third interviewee had been a student teacher in the seventh grade room (along with the sixth and eighth rooms) for the previous eight weeks. He knew the subject and had graduated and already pasted his Praxis. He also didn’t have a classroom to relate to some of the questions, but he answered better than the first two. He also had a great relationship with the kids. A great point that he brought up was the kids that he would have next year, would be the kids that he had this year. The kids LOVED him!
*The fourth and final interviewee was teaching at another school district. He interviewed very well, and had several examples to enlighten us with. He shared several great ideas that we could adopt into our middle school. He was also going to school to become an
