The film ‘The Dark Night’ directed by, Christopher Nolan, is a film about a League of Shadows that has been destroyed, but when a sadistic criminal mastermind who calls himself The Joker takes over the crime mob. Batman return to battle his greatest psychological threat yet. But with half the police force conspiring with this new menace but, as usual Batman manages to finish it off. Christopher Nolan, has used many significant scenes throughout the film the theme of Vigilante justice is not justice main the main idea dispense justice to a city of millions, based entirely on his personal ideas of right and wrong. One of the important scenes in ‘The Dark Knight’ which uses a number of film techniques is The Party Scene. This scene makes it easier to understand by the use of camera angles, symbolism and dialogues.
An important technique used in The Party Scene is the camera work. In the middle of the Party Scene, the Joker is shown holding a knife to Rachel’s head, as he encounters and recalls his life taking past. The camera in the scene circles around the Joker and Rachel, with a slightly lower angle, the rest of the party quest are blurred out. These three camera techniques create the feeling of restlessness, fear and daunt. This is possible as the audience focus on the two main people Joker and Rachel which shown how intense the scene is. The character of Rachel is presented as a very strong character thought the whole film, until now in the presence of the Joker in this scene makes her collapse. The use of camera shows the audience how the Joker can implant fear into the strongest and the most honourable characters of the whole film.
