Cheating and Academic Learning

Academic learning is the basis which we take into our future which determines our occupation and financial pay. Feeling pressured students feel inclined to perform excellently in school. Now that students work less and less, they use the method of cheating to obtain a grade which they do not deserve. This process will only harm the student’s future, and not acquire the result the teachers imagine. Through the events of cheating a student’s education will suffer and have numerous negative consequences which are caused by various situations.
Resulting from the numerous pressures from high school, they feel as if cheating both relieves and adds stress onto students. To begin with, student’s emotions and lack of morals prompt a student to cheat to receive an acceptable grade. Stated in the article, “One kid at school was desperate and paid about 2,000 dollars,” (SCS 2) this shows the desperation and lack of intelligence this student contains. Analyzing through the article Sally Rubenstone informs us, “The pressure these kids feel to do well on tests… make students feel it’s necessary,” (SCS 2). Students feel emotionally derived to pass and to reach that expectation that falls on them they use cheating as a method to obtain that goal. Collier informs the reader in his article, “Students cheat because the relief of stress to pass is taken off of them and little do they know, us as instructors notice this,” (Collier 1). Students pretend they understand the concept, but as soon as a test is handed to them they realize the mistake of not preparing, thus causing the stress. However some can see it as putting effort, I feel that anyone can copy down words that were not written by them. If one continues to cheat the downfall is that on a test where no one can help you, you will most likely fail which will show your teacher of your dishonest act and will look back to see if your work is really yours.
I feel through this process of writing this essay that cheating will get you nowhere except to a sheet of paper saying you have failed when there is no others around you that can help you. Cheating can be caused by the wealth of others, the pressure one feels, and just by looking over at someone’s paper. To adjust this situation one must realize that you have to be prepared so in your future you will not feel stress over the work that’s put onto you.
