“Hey Mom, can we go to the movies tonight?” “Sorry kiddo, but it’s too expensive to go to dinner, buy movie tickets, and then buy ridiculously priced soft drinks and popcorn.” “Wait, we don’t have to buy food at the movies! Let’s just go to 7-11 and get snacks, then we can stuff them in your purse and sneak them in.” “Oh, great idea! I guess we can afford to go to the movies after all.” Above is an example of a conversation held in many households, including my own. It all goes down like this: I will ask my mom if we can go to the movies, she then replies with “No, it is too expensive”, next I will plead with her and ask a few more times and tell her we don’t have to get popcorn and we can get food before hand and sneak it in. Typically she will give in and I will go and pick out some candy and chips to take in the theater, and take a large purse to fit everything in, plain and simple. Though, some people don’t agree with bringing food in. They say it is “cheating” the theater out of money or is making ticket costs rise up, but the truth is people are going to still do it no matter how much you protest or rant about it, so just let them be. …show more content…
One is cost. You spend ten times less at a convenience store than you would at the food counter in most movie theaters. A typical bucket of popcorn could be upwards of five to six dollars, whereas you can buy a giant bag of popcorn from the grocery store or someplace else for a quarter of the price. Another reason could be food allergies. Some kids cannot eat peanut butter or chocolate, meaning basically all of the candy options are off limits. This can make the child sad as they cannot have a sweet treat, and that the movies don’t cater to people who have food allergies. Also, if someone can’t have gluten, well, then they most likely cannot have any of the food served there, because they don’t have gluten free
So is going through the drive thru of your favorite fast restaurant really cheaper than making a meal at home for your family? In today’s time it has become more relevant to get what is more convenient and cheapest regarding to food. People are less concerned with the health benefits, whether that means going by McDonalds for dinner than making a home cooked meal or eating junk food than healthy alternative snack. People are doing what seems to be the most convenient and inexpensive route, but the problem is that Americans lack knowledge regarding junk food and real food which is interfering with their health. High amounts of processed foods are being consumed by Americans because they are tight budgeted
... or getting groceries, so it can’t really compete with a video store that charges much more for the same service.
First of all, prices are marked up way too much. Why pay $5 or more for a pack of M&M's when you can get the same thing for a dollar anywhere else? Most prices are marked up 300%-400%. Popcorn is known as one of America’s biggest scam and is marked up 900%. Actually, some reports say that every 85 cents out of every dollar spent in the theatre is profit. This is ridiculous as the theatre does need money, but not that much.
“Look! We’re just here for the money and I will find some way to get us out of here! Or we’re going to go to jail, so if you just do as I say, then we’ll get out of here! You want to pay that debt right?”
Marie-Louise Gumuchian was found plagiarizing news stories for CNN back in May 2014. Gumuchain was not a celebrity reporter and the story of her plagiarism was not really talked about, even though she plagiarized at least 128 times in about 50 different stories. She was employed with CNN for a short 6 months before they found out what she was doing. The plagiarism was caught when CNN was doing a check of their reporters work not by and outsider. CNN has since fired Gumuchian and amended all plagiarized work (Bailey 2014).
When we first got to the movie theater, it was around 4:20 in the afternoon. The movie didn’t start until 4:45 so we sat in the car for a few minutes. I noticed that were only a few other cars in the parking lot. When we walked up to the ticket booth there was a sign saying to buy our tickets at the concession stand so we proceeded to go inside. The lobby featured a game room to your right as you enter and a large concession stand. The tickets were at matinee price which is seven dollars. This is only two dollars cheaper than the regular price for admission. I decided not to buy any snacks due to being familiar with the cinema’s prices. One of my friends spent around twenty dollars on popcorn, a drink , and her ticket. There is a “manager special” at the theater that includes two large drinks...
Cheating is a big issue that has reached the most competitive campuses around the United States. It is increasing more and more with the new technology that we have in the 21st century because students have easy access to many sources of information. Cheating is something all students have done at some point in their lives, but as they reach a higher academic level, they are faced with more rigorous consequences that can affect their futures in many different ways. Cheating might be seen as an easy way to obtain a good grade, get into a good college, or maintain scholarships or financial aid, but the consequences could affect the life and the future of the student.
If you observe students buying lunch in the cafeteria, you don’t often see them buying these kinds, but not limited to, foodstuffs: burritos (which are just beans wrapped in tortillas), “burgers” (meat slapped on two slices of bread), etc. Even the chicken nuggets aren’t very popular. And the price is great! $3.75-$4.75 is not worth such “garbage”, as a teacher would say. Out of the 25 students I surveyed, 56% stated that they would like to see their cafeteria changed.
They all will cost you your time of day by driving up there (gas) and by you spending money on your ticket and food. Some places will easily charge you five or six dollars just to get a small bag of popcorn, which is a rip off. While at the same time, the fundamental charge of the DVD rental may seem cheaper at six dollars, but it can conveniently grow if you forget to return it back on time. Nonetheless, that same money that you spent on that popcorn, will cost you one tenth of the same price at the supermarket for home utilization. In other words, it is just better to watch a movie at
Academic knowledge is the basis on which future prosperity, and financial security has been determined. As a consequence, students feel inclined to perform above average in school. Now, as students perform less and less, they sink to obtain good grades by cheating. This method to acquire the desired grades will only harm the student, instead of the imagined result. Prompted by a child’s inability to perform basic tasks throughout his education , academic cheating spawns numerous negative consequences.
A movie theater has its advantages and disadvantages. One advantage is that people can see the showing of different movies that have been newly released. The disadvantage is that, that is all there is to it and nothing more. At home, you can control the variety and ways to watch a movie. People buy many movies to watch at home and it can be anything at any time even at any place. The only bad thing about it is that they cannot see any of the newest released movies that recently came out in theaters. There are two types of ways people watch movies at their homes. One way is people already own DVDs or have bought many of them and start watching them in their DVD players. The other ways are streaming a movie through the internet. For this to happen, people would mainly buy the monthly subscriptions such as Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon Prime. Through this subscription people do not only watch movies in their homes but they also watch television shows. The only downside is there is a very limited number of movies added onto these
Attendant: “Here are your drinks. The food will be out soon. Shall I carry your tray for you?”
Going to the theater does not come free, so you have to aware of the all cost you are planning to spend in the theater. First, you have to spend for movies tickets which cost an average of ten to twelve dollars. Besides tickets, you may buy some food and drinks. The cost of popcorn and drinks is more expensive in the movie theater. In addition, you also have to pay for transportation such as bus fee or gas. In contrast, you do not have to worry about tickets fees and expensive food at home. You can get popcorn from a supermarket which cost ...
The first factor to consider is convenience. Netflix can be the simplest choice, because the average person does not have to leave the house. While there may be a few movie theaters in a town, they require a drive to get to them. Another aspect to consider is that movie theaters follow a set schedule, and the times cannot be altered. For example,
Cheating among students has been a well-known problem which is difficult to gain knowledge of. There are different ways of cheating in exam; students can copy from each other, write short notes on their hands or other body parts, use of mobile phones, and others methods. Therefore, the intent of this paper is to discuss the causes and effects of exam cheating.
