Watching movies is a fun activity that is suitable for one person, large groups, or anywhere in between. Unfortunately, a vast majority of these
Even though there is a great amount of audience participation, one really has to turn your attention to the actors in the movie. It takes a special kind of person to really understand the movie they are in.

Through the evolution of the performing art, the market and industry of performing start to rise in popularity. The concept of going to theater is cool because people are able to enjoy the visual effects of live shows that people cannot experience when watching television at home. Going to theater seems to be simple and usual but people are reluctant to sacrifice leisure time to watch shows at a theater. The differences between watching television shows at home and attending theater shows are the personal experience and the cultural atmosphere. When people are watching the television shows alone, they are unlikely to feel the powerful effect of rendering the stage. The interactions between the audience and the actors do not seem realistic on the television because the ambience does not penetrate through the screen to reach the people. Going to theater also provides the
Movies have been one of the most popular pastimes for Americans for decades. They are the topics of conversation, a place for lovers to go on dates, and an industry that the general public seems to have a fascination for. However although we think of movies as another entertainment source, they were not always as socially accepted by the people. In 1904, Harry Davis opened the first freestanding moving-picture theater. Although he was met with much skepticism, his idea would have a lasting effect on America's culture. When they first opened, the people were not immediately accepting. Safety, cleanliness, and price were a few of the concerns the public had. After a few changes however, the "nickelodeons", as they were called, started booming. Flashing lights were put up wherever there was room on the façade of the buildings. Ventilation systems assured people that they were br...
Who’s Cheap? Is sneaking food into the movie theater worth being an inconsiderate, rude jerk who shorts the movie theater out of money? Is a two dollar candy bar or a peanut butter and jelly sandwich worth losing your integrity? Is it really worth it? I believe you should not bring food into the movie theater because: breaking the rules on purpose is rude and immoral, without the snack business your ticket price would be even higher, and lastly the snack sales are the main revenue for movie theaters.
It seems that ticket prices at the cinema are always going up because the supply outweighs the demand, as a result admission fees cost twice as much as they did before. Not to mention the outrageous prices that they charge for refreshments and popcorn, its seems as if the cinema approaches its consumers with a mafia-like mindset intending to drain them of every single penny before they even sit down to enjoy the movie. Although, if you chose to view a movie at home, you probably wouldn’t spend a dime because entry is free, and you have your own food and refreshments. As well as you avoid the hassle of long lines ,rude employees and obnoxious strangers interacting with you, the only thing that would be your concern when watching a movie home is if your electric bill is

To me, a good movie presents a well constructed plot combined with skilled cinematography. A great movie incorporates a message into the attributes of a good movie. An excellent movie goes further by adding deeper levels of meaning. When I watch a movie which I judge to be excellent, I feel that it can be viewed from many angles and appear seamless from each di...
Sparking debate over the nature of its viewing, film is now being questioned in social, political, and moral arenas for its potential impact on an audience. Critics claim that watching films is a passive activity in which the viewer becomes subconsciously absorbed, and creates a reliance or "addiction" to the medium, and thus can be influenced by any perpetual concepts or images. Advocates, however, argue that viewing such programs is an active process in which audience members are able to choose to what they are exposed to, and interpret messages based on their individual needs and background. Perhaps both views are too extreme? Film from the 1950s to present, as will be explored in this essay, is an extremely useful medium, often underestimated within the label of "entertainment".
When we first got to the movie theater, it was around 4:20 in the afternoon. The movie didn’t start until 4:45 so we sat in the car for a few minutes. I noticed that were only a few other cars in the parking lot. When we walked up to the ticket booth there was a sign saying to buy our tickets at the concession stand so we proceeded to go inside. The lobby featured a game room to your right as you enter and a large concession stand. The tickets were at matinee price which is seven dollars. This is only two dollars cheaper than the regular price for admission. I decided not to buy any snacks due to being familiar with the cinema’s prices. One of my friends spent around twenty dollars on popcorn, a drink , and her ticket. There is a “manager special” at the theater that includes two large drinks...
It can come to define who’s being influenced. Movies are a huge source of influence, because they’re also a form of entertainment. Movies can influence us because they influence storytelling, entertainment, and culture. ...ssignment has showed me the different views I have towards the culture of moviegoers. It made me understand their major purpose for coming to the movies with an outside view and made me look deep in to their purpose as a moviegoer myself in an insider perspective. It was a fun experience for me to go in to this particular subculture as I can relate to it. Many of us, if not all, are moviegoers ourselves. Seeing why they come and watch a movie with not just the purpose of watching moving pictures dumbfounds me. Seeing them escape the harsh realities of life simply by stepping foot through the front doors. That’s what makes this group truly interesting; the fact that we can escape from ourselves by entering the culture of moviegoers. This tells us that people in general have this inner ability deep within them guiding them through a stairway of happiness.
Nevertheless, the question at hand is whether theatre will have a role in the society of the future, where cinema, digital television, and computers will continue to expand and grow. The answer to this question is yes. Heading into the 21st century, theatre will only be a fraction in a solid media industry. However, despite all the excitement technology brings with it, they will never replace theatre because it has something that can not be recreated or offered anywhere else. The cinema and its larger than life world appeals as an affordable alternative. Digital television provides digital interaction between the viewer and the producer. Theatre on the other hand, and its contents may take on a larger dimension, but we receive it directly in flesh and blood – one to one. The magical atmosphere between an actor and spectator who are constantly aware of each other and the theatre’s level of engagement is fundamentally more human and far more intimate.
Movies take us inside the skin of people quite different from ourselves and to places different from our routine surroundings. As humans, we always seek enlargement of our being and wanted to be more than ourselves. Each one of us, by nature, sees the world with a perspective and selectivity different from others. But, we want to see the world through other’s eyes; imagine with other’s imaginations; feel with other’s hearts, at a same time as with our own. Movies offer us a window onto the wider world, broadening our perspective and opening our eyes to new wonders.
