Reconstruction was meant to create a better country and reunify after the Civil War. It also was to create a “new south”, which meant changing the south from the agrarian environment to a more industrialized society. Then after Reconstruction ended, there was a massive immigration movement to America between 1880 and 1925. Many immigrants wanted a new start, and America offered it. Yet, there were many tensions among all these new immigrants. The Americans also that the new immigrants were coming over to fast and in to massive amounts and taking all of their jobs and taking over politics. The government then stepped in, and created stricter rules on Immigration.
