Rosa Lee Cunningham is a 56 year old African American female. She is referred to the facility from Howard University Hospital. She was treated for a condition called osteomyelitis, which resulted from a bacterial infection while using heroin (Dash, 2006). Rosa Lee states that on October 7, 1983, she injected cocaine, which resulted in her being hospitalized at D.C. General Hospital (Dash, 2006). Prior to her hospital visit in 1983, she injected heroin, cocaine, and various substances. After a horrible breakup with her girlfriend, she used heroin for the first time (Dash, 2006). She stated that she uses speed ball of cocaine, heroin mixed injection as well as Prelundin, occasionally (Dash, 2006).
Question 1: a) Donna Gamble is an Aboriginal woman who lives in her hometown of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. She is a former ward of the state and has spent a significant part of her youth inside juvenile correction centres. At a young age she started using drugs and alcohol as a form of escape and resorted to prostitution as a means of sustaining her habits. Donna has six children, all with the exception of the youngest two who were placed in the custody of child services. Donna has quit working as a prostitute and is currently on the road to recovery from years of addiction and abuse.
There are many women who are currently in an abusive relationship, or have been in an abusive relationship. The most common reason these women do not leave their abuser is because they are scared, financial, or family reasons. Amy McGee would be alive today to tell her own story if her situation was handled differently.
Sandra Lombardino is a recently retired school teacher facing a multitude of crisis’ regarding her personal life and growth. Sandra has a strong desire to vacation and enjoy her retirement via travel and volunteering, however there are barriers that will not allow those things to occur. Sandra is unhappily married to Benedito, an offensive and abusive long-time alcoholic. The couple shares four children, all of which are estranged because of Benedito’s abusive behavior. Though Sandra is overweight and has arthritis, Benedito is the only thing holding her back from achieving her retirement dreams. Sandra has thought about leaving Benedito on many occasions but realizes that he will be entitled to half of her money
Andrea Yates long history of mental illness did impact what she did to her children as well as an outside influence of Michael and Rachel Woroniecki. In 1993 Rusty and Andrea married and a year later they had their first child a son named Noah. They planned on having many children whatever God intended for them. Their five children were all named after figures from the Bible. After Andrea’s first child Noah was born she began to have violent visions and felt that Satan was speaking to her. Andrea kept all her feelings to herself not realizing how much mental illness was in her family because she and Rusty had Bible inspired notions about family and motherhood. Andrea tried to have a fourth child, but suffered a miscarriage. Not long after that she got pregnant and had her fourth child. Andrea began to suffer from serious depression after the birth of their fourth child. America has a hard time on understanding how hormonal shifts can cause violent hallucinations and thoughts. Such women are at risk of committing suicide or harming their children thinking that it is for the child’s own good.
On 08/05/2016 at approximately 1:50 AM, this Investigator with Investigator V. Shroyer arrived at 12211 N. Paradise Village Parkway, Phoenix, AZ for Case # 537001 report of Child Neglect for victim Fiona McFadden (DOB: 03-05-2013) against her mother Monica Katich (DOB: 09-17-89). Upon arriving on the scene, this Investigator met with the report source, Phoenix Police Officer E. Gomez # 7977 in reference to Phoenix Police DR: 2016-00001441605. According to Officer Gomez, Phoenix Police received an emergency 911 call from Monica Katich that her friend later identified as Ashley Brook Post (DOB: 06-21-83) had overdosed on Heroin. The case study of Angela and Adam describes a situation in which a Caucasian teenage mother, Angela, does not appear to have a bond with her 11 month old son, Adam. According to Broderick and Blewitt (2015) Angela and Adam live in the home with Angela’s mother, Sarah. Angela’s relationship with her own mother is described as a bit dysfunctional as Sarah is reported to continue to be angry with Angela for becoming pregnant in the first place. Sarah’s anger has caused her to deny Adam’s father the ability to come to the home and play an active role in Adam’s life, therefore putting more of a strain on Angela who has already had to drop out of high school in attempt to take care of Adam on her own. The museum is divided into quadrants with an elliptical rotunda in the middle. The rotunda is illuminated by natural light from the glass dome with skylights above you. Also when you look up you can see extraordinary symbolic painting on the ceiling. From the center of the rotunda you can go left or right to see the exhibits of Native Americans. The Met looked towards the South Kensington Museum (Victoria and Albert) and the “ideal role model” due to its extensive collections and international reputation (Heckscher, 1995). The Met found itself in a similar situation to the South Kensington, because it did not have a building or a collection to start with (Heckscher, 1995). When designing museums, architects strived to create monuments that “prepare and educate the mind of the visitor (Steffensen-Bruce, 1998).” Education is an essential function of a museum. Acquiring, preserving, and properly displaying materials, permits a museum to fulfill this duty (Steffensen-Bruce, 1998). For instance, lighting is a factor that affects the manner in which artwork is viewed and can be properly appreciated. When determining the proper lighting for the Louvre, Comte d’Angiviller, strongly believed that natural, overhead lighting was the most effective solution (McClellan, 1994, p. 72). The same determination impacted the decision to add skylights at the Met. At Rosa Lee’s recent hospital admission to Howard University Hospital emergency room blood test revealed she is still using heroin. Though Rosa Lee recently enrolled in a drug-treatment program it does not appear that she has any intention on ending her drug usage.
