During the career fair, I was able to collect information on internships, cooperative education, and other paid work experiences. Being able to develop a professional network through the career fair and take the skills I learned and apply them is significant. The primary goal in dressing for a career fair to me is to convey an image that matches the requirements of the position and company. In the recruiting world, you only have one chance to make a good first impression. Reflecting on what has gone well, what could be improved on, and well, everything really. It felt as if I was being introduced to my first step regarding adulthood. To start to deal with myself in a new manner, but instead one that’s meant to create a professional persona because of my …show more content…
The Career Fair is a vibrant networking opportunity. I can explore positions I could pursue with my major, increase my chances of interviewing with an employer, receive useful advice from company recruiters and develop my network to secure the future I want and discover the possibilities. It is important for me to attend the career fair, it really helped me to get to know the recruiters and people from the company and most importantly I learned more about the company itself. I can begin to discover whether the company is a good fit for me. It can’t hurt to get that extra exposure and when it comes to interview decisions and job offers I will be remembered. When I met the recruiters of Nielsen, Microsoft, Cisco and many more, they all seemed satisfied with their jobs overall, proud of the organization they work for, and loves the opportunity to accomplish something worthwhile. I feel that the word “innovative” describes these organizations very well. It is very important that I really keep in touch with them. Sending thoughtful follow-up emails really sets you apart from the rest of the
I went for the Career Network Event and it was a great learning experience for me. I went there trying to apply everything that I learned from my job search class and it was a success. Because I had the chance to speak to the employer of my interest, and I everything went as planned, I remember my professor in class told us to make sure we have a goal and to know which company that we would like to work for and just go for it. I went in there and I did the exact thing that he told us. I remember before taking this class I used to try to speak to every single one of employer and then I put everything in one folder. Later on when I went to contact the job that I was interested in, I would get all the employers mixed up and because of that, that cost me a lot of jobs that I always wanted in the past.
My learning experience within inter-professional was very productive. I personally learned about working in collaboration with other professionals. My first impression was the first seminar which took place in the auditorium with a group of students from different professionals in health care sector. The actual seminar was a very good preparation for me and everyone who is in health professionals. The seminar gave me a very understanding of my future practice. It prepared me well on what to expect as I was not aware of the purpose of mixing different students from different professionals. The outcome of the seminar gave me a clear understanding and gave me opportunity to meet other student. During the seminar, I learned the best way to work

Timing is important when it comes to scheduling a college career fair. Doing it at the wrong time of year will ensure you get few attendees and even fewer recruiters. Since it's likely you don't have the budget to hold countless career fairs throughout the year, you need to schedule your career fair carefully.
During March 2016, in Stage 1 of the pharmacy degree, I attended a two day work placement in a community pharmacy as part of the Work Based Learning module within the Capability unit. The purpose of Work Based Learning is to increase engagement with learning and to develop skills specific to patient pathways. This will link to Stage 4 of the MPharm course in which the main unit is Patient Centred Care. Therefore, it is imperative that I enhance my patient education skills through my own education.
Every high school student has to eventually choose a college they want to attend. I’ve considered many colleges and universities that provide a good nursing program, and I’ve decided that I would like to attend Texas Tech University. Texas Tech, home of the Red Raiders, has a nursing program that is ranked very highly in the state of Texas, and will benefit me in the medical field.
I grew up in Evanston, Illinois where there are opportunities for every type of child. My parents put me through various sports teams, and by the time I was in high school I had developed a sense of what it takes for a team to be one successful unit. I had the pleasure of being a captain for my football team, wrestling team, and lacrosse team, but I was not the most talented out of all my teammates. I explored different interest through my education and extracurricular activities. I found myself volunteering for the theater construction crew and eventually head of set design for a YMCA sponsored play. With the help of the college and career center I was allowed on a field trip to the Evanston Civic Center. I thought it was really interesting to see all of the different types of employees of the city, but I initially did not see any relation to my future life. Afterwards, I was recommended to take a class that taught both Fire Science Technology and Law Enforcement. This class took me two several sites including the Evanston
The main reason I attended induction was to hear more about what NSCS is about. I knew National Society’s participate in service events, but I was not entirely sure about the other aspects of the society. I did not want to join a society and not fully understand what I will be priding myself in and what I would be representing. I am glad I went and got to learn about the leadership that NSCS brings and the networking opportunities that would be made available to me.
Showing that your serious about your career can sometimes be a tough thing to do, however its what you pay and go to school for. After school, you will want to show that you’re still serious about your career, which can be done by joining an organization. Being an active part of an organization will prove to your present and future employer that you are there to stay. It will show that you want to stay informed on current events, and can also help you land a job. Joining an organization is often over looked by young professionals, but could be the difference between getting hired for your dream job or having to settle for something
Gazing at the blank laptop screen before me, I could practically feel the fibers of the muscles within my eyes strain to maintain focus. The late night creaks and thuds of the house settling echoed loudly; you could virtually feel the darkness of the other rooms looming just outside the windows and doorways that adjoined my workroom. I glanced, again at the time in the bottom corner of the screen. 11:23 PM. Almost another day done. After a particularly long and taxing Monday at the elementary school within which I worked as a special education paraeducator, I now sat perched before my computer, my fingers tentatively poised over the keys in another pause in the writing flow, which was one of several throughout the night, still hoping to find
I was born and raised in Carolina, Puerto Rico. My parents are both dominican, therefore I was raised in two cultures. I went to school for the first time when I was 4 years old, and my earliest memories come from that event in my life. I remember some of my friends whom I went to elementary school later on. I also remember my teacher, she used to get our attention by putting a stick on the palm of her hands and keep it balanced. I used to think it was magical and amazing. I don’t hold too many memories from that period in my life though, but I do hold lots of memories from my time in elementary school.
This interview helped me gain an excellent idea about a real interview situation. I took this opportunity seriously as I knew that this might be the only situation where I could judge myself before facing a real interview. Therefore I prepared myself to be as professional as possible. I believe I was right on selecting my dress, as my team member Nathan Copey said,
In the course of taking this class and through the activities done in this class I learned a lot about the new career path I have chosen because of this class and I have also learned a lot more about myself as a person overall. If it were not for this class I probably would not have found my major as quickly as I did this year I would have gone through trial and error before finding the major I have declared and plan on keeping if all goes well. In this class we took the Meyers Briggs Personality tests and the results I got from taking this personality test were not surprising, I already had a basic idea of what most of my personality traits would fall under before taking the test. So I think my results of the Meyers Briggs personality
If you have good self-esteem and are confident it makes the staff of the company look more professional and it gives them a good presentation.
As I reflect on my past assessment process, I realized how much my assessments have changed over the years. In my early years, I used tests for informational recall as my assessments. I felt these were appropriate guidelines in which I needed to follow in order to substantiate a student’s grade. Every assignment or tests was given a point value and then based on the amount of points, a grade was given. Every student’s assessment was exactly the same, and the assessments did not contain any subjectivity. I felt confident in giving the grade based on a valid point system. However reflecting back, I see that I did not include any performance-based assessments or individual learning styles in my early assessment. I also did not take into consideration the individual needs of my students. My assessment approach was awful. I am embarrassed that I use to assess students in this manner.
