I feel that it is important in the world of Career and Technical Education for students to be held to the expectations that they would be held to in the professional world and not just as though they are being treated as students. Gaining practical knowledge through the more thorough feedback will also provide students with the ability to start being able to identify areas where they are having problems so that they can go and seek out assistance prior to action needing to be taken against them.
It doesn’t matter if I’m teaching students or professionals, it is my duty, and responsibility, to provide them with fun, engaging and informative content that directly ties the information I am presenting to them to their subject matter and is as current as possible. It is also important that I provide my students with the appropriate tools required for them to use in their professional settings upon completion of their degree studies. In order for this to be achieved, I will need to introduce different styles of teaching tools that can be used so that

My life experiences thus far bring the best of both worlds to my education and career goals; a student coupled with a variety of life experiences. Being a newly graduated non-traditional student, mother of school-aged children, and experience working with students in the classroom, I bring diversity to your program. Through personal analysis and efforts with other professionals, I have overcome early childhood tragedies. Desiring to make the best use of my experiences by helping others to overcome trauma, and insecure upbringings by conquering these adversities and circumstances positively. Through my example of grit, tenacity, resilience, and perseverance, I hope to offer much to the students in my role as their mentor.
In the United States, the history of Career and Technical Education evolved within four major periods. First, the Awakening period which began in 1776-1826, when the right to a free public education was expressed. During this era, educational opportunities in labor and industrial education were being demanded. The rising working class began to press for an education that were more appropriate for their labor and industry’s needs (Awakening 1776-1826, 1976). Even Benjamin Franklin who represented the Awakening middle class was on board with the rise of technical and vocational education which were taught primarily by private masters or contracted apprenticeships (Cohen, 1976).
For the longest time I could not decide on a major and a career to study throughout college. When I came to Georgia Southern University I discovered that they had a major that was very interesting to me. Sport Management id the ideal major for my interest and me. Since I love sports I figured that this would be the career for me. A degree in Sport Management helps to prepare for success in sport related occupations.
I listen to my students. I allow time for their individual impute in what they are learning, and adjust accordingly. I really believe that is why students can be so into the idea of being taught, because they are all encouraged to lead the discussion and projects before them as it relates to the curriculum. I try to learn from my students by listening to their interpretation. I am learning what interest them, and feed off of it in the work that needs to be performed. So with looking further into all of the different criminal justice paths I could go down and with my love for science I thought being a forensic scientist would be the perfect job. After I’m done with college, my successful will continue. Regardless my main goal is to just be happy, and never have to struggle for anything. But, when I think about my future the first thing I always think about is the car I want. Which is so odd because I should be thinking about a place to live, and a family maybe first, then a car. But no, I want my all white Cadillac CTS. Depending on what year I get enough money to purchase this perfect car, I’m going to want to the newest year. Just so I can have all the newest interior and the technology. I want to one day, have a family and a decent sized house in a big city. I haven’t really decided yet if I either want to go into the FBI or just work for the local police station wherever I decide to live.
I have known from a young age that I wanted to help people, and since then I have searched for the opportunity and knowledge to be able to do just that. On that note, seeing the joy on my uncle’s face, after losing both of his legs and having to learn to walk again with prosthesis’s was so uplifting for me, to witness him so happy even though I wasn’t involved with his healing process. Consequently, I could only imagine how good it would feel to know that I helped him regain his independence and return a smile to his face. That was when I realized that I wanted to give back to people that are in need of assistance. These individuals may not be able to do anything about the position they are in, Hence when I become an Occupational therapist; I will

It is a very well-known fact that there is a fine line between education and success. Success is a word that is very loosely defined, but is normally associated with education in a very simplistic way. In most cases, people put success and education in the same sentence with the traditional association of attending a college or university, graduating with a degree and moving forward with a career choice. But what happens when education and success are associated in a different, much more complex way? What happens when there is a negative association between education and success?

Meaning of the Term “Competency” Competency has its origins in the Latin word 'competentia' which means is authoritative to judge as well as ―has the right to speak‖ (Caupin et al., 2006: 9). The English dictionary defines the word ‘competence’ as the state of being suitably sufficient or fit. Trying to draw a fine line between the words such as proficiency, capability, capacity, competence, competency/ competencies is even more difficult and creates confusion (see examples in Byham & Moyer, 2000; Cooper, 2000; Mirabile, 1997). Those who invested efforts in investigativing competency are immediately struck by the lack of uniform definitions, compositions, and methodologies which, of course, lead to misunderstanding, wandering,
Education is an ever-changing part of society. A classroom teacher is faced with new challenges and obstacles that have never been dealt with before. Students come to the classroom with different life stories. Every student has strengths and weaknesses that surface in the classroom environment. Teachers must understand and focus on utilizing each student's strengths and work to improve weaknesses. Students learn in a variety of ways. The classroom must be a safe zone that appreciates student's viewpoints and allows room for mistakes. When topics in the classroom are related to "real-life" experiences, the information is more likely to be retained. Students learn from one another. The ideas and perspectives that each student brings to the classroom can bring insight into what is being learned. Students have to be allowed to explore new ideas, try them to see if they work, and sometimes fail. When students are encouraged to explore, they begin the process of becoming lifelong learners.
As a future educator, I have many goals. My first goal would be to never overpower my students. Being a teacher should not be a job, it should be a passion. I will focus my classroom around the student’s needs, rather than my own. The classroom will revolve around the students. I will be their guiding hand through education. Another goal of mine is to have the students interact in a positive way. Social interaction is very important. As students combine with peers they share knowledge and learn how to solve problems. In the real-world, this what will happen. Whenever I can, I li...
I will try to prepare my lesson 100% to enhance learning. I will try to research my topic and try to integrate different resources and activities to make my lesson engaging and interesting to my students. I am able to use a variety of methods to teach a lesson to the students. This helps the students to get engaged visually, physically and verbally. I did not know, but I really like to use different resources and art materials to create something that will enhance my lesson and able to engage my students throughout the lesson. By creating and using a variety of methods and activities during the center time, I can meet the student’s needs to help them to learn.
