Teaching: A Commitment to Lifelong Learning Education is an ever-changing part of society. A classroom teacher is faced with new challenges and obstacles that have never been dealt with before. Students come to the classroom with different life stories. Every student has strengths and weaknesses that surface in the classroom environment. Teachers must understand and focus on utilizing each student's strengths and work to improve weaknesses. Students learn in a variety of ways. The classroom must be a safe zone that appreciates student's viewpoints and allows room for mistakes. When topics in the classroom are related to "real-life" experiences, the information is more likely to be retained. Students learn from one another. The ideas and perspectives that each student brings to the classroom can bring insight into what is being learned. Students have to be allowed to explore new ideas, try them to see if they work, and sometimes fail. When students are encouraged to explore, they begin the process of becoming lifelong learners. The teacher in the classroom encompasses several roles. Resource, facilitator, and mentor are three of them. The teacher must be a resource that provides ideas and lessons to be learned. The teacher also must be a facilitator that encourages creative thinking, exploration, and mastery. The teachers is responsible for what needs to be learned. The subject matter that is taught is based on both curriculum as well as the world that students live i...

Show MoreDuchenne Muscular Dystrophy, also known as DMD, is the most common form of muscular dystrophy. Muscular dystrophy is a condition that is inherited, and it is when muscles slowly become more and more weak and wasted. Duchenne muscular dystrophy is a form of muscular dystrophy that is very rapid and is most commonly found in boys. In muscle, there is a protein named dystrophin. Dystrophin is encoded by the DMD gene. When boys have Duchenne muscular dystrophy, they do not produce enough dystrophin in their muscles. This causes weakness in their muscles. Parents can tell if their child has duchenne muscular dystrophy by looking for various symptoms.
Duchenne's muscular dystrophy, also known as psuedohypertrophic muscular dystrophy, is a typical sex-linked disorder in which the muscles degenerate throughout a person's life. It literally means "faulty nutrition of the muscles." Muscular Dystrophy has no cures, and this particular type of muscular dystrophy affects only males. One in 3,500 baby boys are born with this disorder and survival is rare beyond the early 30s, death is usually caused by a respiratory disease. (ygyh.org)
Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy is caused by the mutation of the necessary muscle protein dystrophin that occurs on the X chromosome, and due to the way the disease is inherited it usually affects males. Males have only one copy of the X chromosome from their mother and one copy of the Y chromosome from their father. If their X chromosome has a DMD gene mutation, they will have Duchenne muscular dystrophy. According to the US National Library of Medicine (www.nlm.nih.gov) the sons of females who are carriers of the disease (women with the defective gene, but have no symptoms themselves) each have a 50% chance of having the disease. The daughters each have a 50% chance of being carriers, but very rarely
When Genghis Khan was young, his own people rejected him, making him ‘black-boned’. By uniting the Mongols and conquering large areas of Asia and China, he destroyed the power that the ‘white-bones’ have built for themselves. Based on his past history of being left by Tayichiud after his father’s death, he ruled the Mongol people differently. He valued lives and wouldn’t sacrifice them. Also, when a soldier would die, he would give the soldier’s shares to his family, ensuring that the family would be taken care of. With justice and integrity, Genghis Khan ruled powerfully. Although he killed many people and civilizations, Genghis Khan has affected the modern world with other actions.
DMD also known as muscular dystrophy is muscular disease that occurs on young boys around age four to six. Muscular dystrophy is genetically transmitted disease carried from parent to offspring. This disease progressively damages or disturbs skeletal and cardiac muscle functions starting on the lower limbs. Obviously by damaging the muscle, the lower limbs and other muscles affected become very weak. This is ultimately caused by the lack dystrophin, a protein the body produces.
The founder of the Mongol Empire, Genghis Khan, became one of the most feared and respected leaders in the eleventh century. Under his leadership, the nomadic Mongolian tribes became an empire and conquered land across Asia to the Middle East. As a feared leader, Genghis Khan showed his strength and justice to his people at the same time. However, the invasion of Central Asia and the Iranian Plateau was not only to demonstrate Genghis Khan’s power and influence as the leader of the Mongol Empire, but his personal pride and his ability to deliver justice was on the line as well.
In Medea, a play by Euripides, Jason possesses many traits that lead to his downfall. After Medea assists Jason in his quest to get the Golden Fleece, killing her brother and disgracing her father and her native land in the process, Jason finds a new bride despite swearing an oath of fidelity to Medea. Medea is devastated when she finds out that Jason left her for another woman after two children and now wants to banish her. Medea plots revenge on Jason after he gives her one day to leave. Medea later acts peculiarly as a subservient woman to Jason who is oblivious to the evil that will be unleashed and lets the children remain in Corinth. The children later deliver a poisoned gown to Jason’s new bride that also kills the King of Corinth. Medea then kills the children. Later, she refuses to let Jason bury the bodies or say goodbye to the dead children he now loves so dearly. Jason is cursed with many catastrophic flaws that lead to his downfall and that of others around him.
In a classroom, the class is a single unit, and teachers teach to the class’s needs, rather than to each individual students’ needs. I enjoy being able to work individually with students in order to cater my teaching toward each one’s specific needs so that I can instill them with passion for each subject.
Teacher knowledge has always been the basis to an effective learning experience. Without a knowledgeable teacher, students are not able to receive a quality educational experience. This pillar encompasses the influence teachers have on student learning and achievement, possession of research based knowledge, and effective teaching practices. I thrive to be educated and knowledgeable on the information presented to my students. By having a variety of teaching techniques that work and I use often in my classroom, I am able to mold my instruction around student needs and provide efficient and
Between the beautiful bloom and scent of amaranth, lavender, acadia and the most precious fumes that have ever been sensed lies a story of a gifted boy - murderer in heart. Patrick Süskind’s novel „Perfume” was published in 1985, which, I believe, is one of the most imaginative and eccentric story ideas I have ever read. This cross-genred novel is one of the most successful German publications of the 20th century alongside with Erich Maria Remarque’s novels and roughly twenty years later – in 2006 Tom Tykwer adapted Grenouille’s story for cinemas.
Students must be able to be active in their want of education. It is essential that students are able to interact with peers and teachers in order to completely understand daily learning. Students also need to be motivated on what they are learning. This role is also part of the teacher’s role as well.
Teachers help us expand and open our mind by giving us skills throughout students’ early life to help students when they are older. By learning information from teachers, students become better people, in a couple of ways. Besides inquiring knowledge from their teachers, students learn to work with one another, open their mind to other peoples’ thoughts and ideas, respect one another, and learn different techniques for life’s issues.
Through military genius and political cunning, Genghis brought peace to the steppe by joining the individual tribes and clans together into one Mongol civilization, unchallenged by any tribe. First of all, evidence shows that Khan was a natural leader with amazing talent and wisdom in which no one had taught him. He had highly effective political skills and created a strict but fair law code, which effectively disciplined the people of his kingdom. Second of all, he combined the Tators, Merkits, and the Naiman, which were three individual tribes. These three tribes became the three million people that made up his empire. Finally, Khan forced his people to fear him so that he can gain respect and control over the entire nation. If anyone spoke up saying that they were too powerful, he would have them executed and killed - one of the numerous cold-blooded acts of his. For that specific reason, he would cut off one’s ears or simply kill someone, ev...
I was exposed to a classroom that was very diverse and learned the importance of teaching for learner differences. Not are students are the same and when the needs of a classroom are not being met the students can quickly become frustrated and deterred from learning. When the student’s needs are being met they are able to interact with their peers without the frustration and with guidance can maintain a safe learning environment.
In the previous part of this paper, the definition of Lifelong Learning is discussed and elaborated in details. However, it appears that the current conception of lifelong learning focus on “education” rather than “learning” as the recognition of certification and qualification is the main emphasis. This is closely linked to the continual renewal of licenses to practice a profession. Hence, there is a lower emphasis and value placed on “vocational” learning for personal interest and enrichment.
