The advice I would give to others who are doing simulation is trying to understand other functional areas in addition to your main functional one. I realized that after learning the other functional areas, I make more contribution to the team and help get the team in the right direction. Of course, each member first needs to concentrate and make good decision in their own functional area. However, understand each area and their interaction would provide the whole picture and guide decisions to the right direction. The other advice is each member needs to spend considerable of time to prepare such as watching Capsim videos for the simulation so that they can avoid mistakes, especially in the early rounds.
You should have joined a Week 3 job simulation team by now. Hopefully you are working on this week 's project (due this Sunday). Give a brief update on your team, your responsibilities to the team, and what you have done to nurture success thus
However, despite of the fact that being a communicable in a group is one of the challenge for me, I have enjoyed all of team activities. This is because throughout the Biz cafe simulation, my team and I put our coffee store “JAV-AH” as a leadership team in the market by our best efforts. To increase our productivities, all of us have enjoyed sharing opinions to be aware of business essentials and researching how they are important in the business. Without doubt, I can definitely explain that we have been able to make a decision confidently. Therefore, I will describe that while the Biz café simulation provided me a useful and helpful opportunities to increase knowledge of business essential tools, I have also motivated how group performance is significant to reach business
The diagnosis of bipolar I disorder with acute manic phase is made for Ms. IC after rule out medical condition and substance abuse.
In the first assignment of Research Skills (Studio Pathway), we have to explain some terms in research. Every student has to choose 5 terms. 5 research terms that interested me are Case Study, Literature Review, Primary Source, Secondary Source, and Survey.
When a case study is conducted, the researcher conducts an in-depth observation on a particular individual for an extended period of time. While observing the individual, the researcher records their observations which are then translated into case materials that are used to demonstrate a possible problem (American Psychological Association, 2009). Also, as mentioned before, case studies are solely focused on observations of a particular individual. However, even though the word individual is usually used to refer to a person, in this case, it can also be used to refer to a business, school, or neighborhood (Cozby & Bates, 2012).
Imagine- you just saved a patient from a deadly bleed, but, your patient was no more than just a pile of rubber and metal pieces. These are, health care simulators, which simulate real life human abilities such as breathing blinking and communicating, to help medical perfectionals practice for real life situations.(About Simulation) These health simulators can add to our understanding of human behavior and abilities in medical situations. (About Simulation)Some healthcare simulators that many different professions use are patient simulators which help basic walk in hospital nurses prepare for different medical situations. Then there is a Mental simulator, which simulator different situations that might happen when working in a mental institute. Then there is Surgical simulators, which use video game technology and patient simulators to practice challenging
For our Global Business module we were tasked to efficiently manage a company throughout a 4 year trading cycle in the Global DNA Capsim Simulation. Managing an organization involves many components and the Capsim simulation provides the utilization of 4 main decision making areas which are Research & Development, Marketing, Production and Finance. Since there were 4 decision making areas, we were required to work in a team and compete against other teams in the class as well as computer simulations.
Simulations should allow for sustained, deliberate practice within a safe environment, ensuring that recently acquired skills are consolidated within a defined curriculum which assures regular reinforcement.
The role of the leader in the Everest simulation was to motivate, instruct, resolve conflict and achieve group goals. I, as the team leader, made the point of differentiating myself from a manager, to someone who was extraverted, energetic and driven, within and outside of the simulation. This involved organising location times and communication between members, drawing up the team contract and building relationships between team members beyond the classroom. During the simulation however I chose to adopt a less prominent role to minimise conflict and maximise satisfaction.

I can validate my team learning by having a colleague at my place of employment who can judge my accomplishments. They can conduct these judgments by using different levels of a rating scale from insufficient to outstanding. I will have to validate my mental model internally. By being open and honest with myself I will be able to accomplish this goal.
I am not going to lie this class was my hardest it felt like I didn’t know what was going on at all time. It not like I wasn’t learning anything in there is just that I didn’t really get the class at all. Every time went on Capsim to do work I never get anything do because I didn’t know what I was doing. Is not like I didn’t like the class the class I just us doing the Capsim online was hard for some people because they didn’t know what to do. Next semester I think the class should be thought like microeconomic because more people we will it better. Another idea I was thinking was we could do a field trip to some business meetings even though I know students in college don’t do feel trip. The feel trip will give us an ideal of what a real
The Everest team simulation was a valuable experience that taught me how to apply the foundations of the management course into real and first-hand team situations. The success of a team and their performance depends on their initial stage of development as well as their structure. A team with an established team structure and maturity over the different stages of group development proved to be extremely successful. The decision making and conflict resolution techniques were also influential in the overall performance of a team. Ultimately, effective communication is the key to success when working in a team. On the other hand, ineffective communication may be the team’s downfall. The simulation exercise was a solid example towards work group situations and is a valuable first-hand experience.
Similar to understanding the context of the team, to effectively manage and understand the composition of the team it is important for the team and its members to answer the following questions: “(1) to what extent do individual team members have the technical skills required to complete the task?; (2) to what extent do they have the interpersonal and communication skills required to coordinate their work with others?; (3) to what extent are individual team members committed to the team and motivated to complete the task?; and (4) is the team the right size to successfully complete the task?” (Dyer & Dyer,
Skills and knowledge possessed by every member is also important for a team to become high performance. Although it is among the most important factors, however, it must be coupled with a good working relationship with every team member and good collaboration with every team member. The members who possess the good skills and wide knowledge will be a useful resource to the team if that team member can share their strengths with the other team members and vice versa. It is usually misconstrued that having skillful and intelligent team members is already enough to make a team work right. This kind of thinking is the reason why most teams, despite all of those competent members they have, fail to achieve their goals. A team should establish one common goal, not to think that way and develop a good working relationship with each member. (retrieved from: http://www.strictlysuccess.com, August 18, 2005) This can be done by self awareness exercises, like the DISC assessment and other assessments or any other kind of self awareness exercises regarding communication style differences. Then these factors and important pieces of information should be taken into full consideration before the actual project is begun. These exercise or assessments can be great ice breakers and mark the difference between a group of individuals merely assigned to a team, as opposed to functioning as...
