It is the “best place to study” as well as “best place to live”
Canada is a popular choice for many international students for their broad spectrum of opportunities. With low crime rates, high life expectancy and their ability to provide an outstanding campus life to international students, it has often been awarded the titles of the “best place to live” and “the best place to study”. It is their multicultural diversity and the ability to accept new cultures, along with great employment opportunities due to a constant economic stability, often draw attention towards this country.

In terms of education cost the average tuition fees for an undergraduate course would be approximately CA$ 14,000 per year and CA$ 42,000 would be the average tuition fees for a postgraduate course. But these costs can vary depending upon the university or college chosen or even the province you would be living in. For example, Quebec is the most expensive province with the average education cost of CA$ 10,000 to CA$ 20,000 while Newfoundland is the least expensive city with the average education cost of CA$ 5,000 to CA$
These days, colleges are seemingly endless money pits. Did you know that in 1970 at a public university, tuition on average was only $2,710? Today, we could only dream of it being so low. Once you start looking at the actual average prices of attending a college or a university, you start to think it’s a joke with how expensive it is. It’s definitely no joke. The annual cost for undergraduate tuition, room and board is estimated to be $12,804 at public institutions and $32,184 at private institutions for the 2010 academic year, according to the U.S. Department of Education’s National Center for Education Statistics. That means that even a modest education—a bachelor’s degree from a public university or college—will cost at least $50,000. You can find cheaper colleges for example if you attended a community college, but many of those you cannot get more than a two year degree with. There are also colleges with pr...
In parts of Canada, where there are two languages, children are taught both languages. If we had an official language, we would be responsible for insuring that everyone gets a chance to learn the language. As seen in the statutes of Section 3-3-31 of the Mississippi code, “.the purpose (of the statutes) was not to discourage foreign language instruction nor, for that matter, bilingual education, although the presumption was that such programs be “transitional” and designed to move non-English speakers into classes taught in English as soon as possible.” (Juan 79).... ...
Quebec is a distinct society because of their language. Quebec’s official language is only French whereas the rest of Canada’s official languages are English and French. During the time of separatism, Canada’s French speaking population was 25.7%. Even though Canada’s official language
Since the day Canada was created the standards of living have been constantly changing. There have been ups and downs in Canadian Standard of Living, but in my opinion, the system we have today is nearly perfect. Although I believe that no one will ever create a perfect system, mainly because of the differences in opinions. Not a single country in the world has the standard of living that in my opinions is ideal. We can look at other countries such as: Russia, Holland, or China. Although these countries have better standards of living then Canadians in some areas like: education, clothing, health system, etc. Each of them has disadvantages like: Russia has poor economy, Holland has high taxes, and China is overpopulated. I believe that current Canadian Standard of living creates a line higher then medium in the World Standard of Living.
Aside from our activities outside the country, we are also one of the best countries to live in. We have one of the top 5 life expectancies for both men and women. We also have the longest expected education according to the UN’s stats. These are just a few reasons why Canada is the greatest country.
3: Canada to me is the best place to live in because we have beautiful
Canadian pension, the plan that promises to provide a set income once retirement, passed during 1965 in order to make an effort for those who have great losses and are struggling with finance after retirement due to the great depression, disability, and death costs. The Canadian Pension Plan was used to help reduce the poverty levels in Canada when it was noticed that the poverty rate at an old age reached 72.5%. After the Canadian pension plan passed laws during 1965, the poverty rate of seniors reduced by 30% by 1976. It is clear to see how within a decade the poverty level has decreased by 52.5% thus further proving the efficiency of the Canadian Pension plan. This statistic denotes how a larger population of seniors were living with stable financing which continues today.
Canada has two national languages French and English, but not everyone understands it. Despite the adoption of the Official Languages Act in 1969, which recognized English and French as the official languages of federal institutions in Canada, only one province — New Brunswick — is officially bilingual. (Huffington Post)
Canada is mainly inhabited by French and European immigrants, in effect Canadians have always been bilingual speaking French and English in the same way that most Americans speak English and spanish1867, Parliament permitted the use of either English or French language in debates Federal Court proceedings. During that time, both languages were required to be used in legal records, journals of Parliament and Laws. Later, in 1927, stamps, bank notes, interpretations of debates in the House of Commons were also bilingual. The Royal Commission on Bilingualism and Biculturalism was established in 1963 and later, in 1969, English and French was recognized as the official languages of all federal institutions in Canada. Years later, all consumer labels were made bilingual for consumers. In 1974, the Consumer Packaging and Labeling Act were incorporated so that both English and French speaking Canadians understood labels on packages at stores. Canada is very unique compared to America and many other countries bec...
It has been influenced by both French and English ideals, art, and policies. Canada has many policies put in place to try and make sure its citizens are protected. Canada’s government has put in place strict gun laws, same sex marriage, and has publicly funded healthcare. To an American the strict gun laws would be something extremely unheard of, especially if you are more of a conservative. On the other hand though Canada has statistics that prove that the stricter gun laws are helping. For example Canada’s gun related crimes is about less than 1%, while the US is closer to 5%. The same sex marriage laws put in place in Canada show the government and its citizens commitment to try and keep everyone treated
Canada, just like many other countries, has had their fair share of hardships. There were many major influences that got us to where we are today, and while they made us who we are, they could’ve been made with less favouritism towards the English. What hardships, you may ask, well that’s exactly what I’m going to be writing about: the past. The joining of the two separate colonieswas much more difficult then it could’ve been, and while there’s were many difficulties Canada faced, the three main challenges were: US influence, the Fenian raids, and the trouble with the trade. Canada and Britain judgement of the US were very anti- northern, which is why Washington was quite hostile to all British territories.
As Canadian's fertility rate fells, baby boomers retires, immigration and foreign workers becomes very important for the increase of labor demands in the Canadian's job market. The government is planning to reduce the application waiting time and therefore there will be more newcomers coming in the next fewer years. Canadian companies will then have many experienced and foreign trained applicants where they can help Canadian companies to increase their foreign trade and to build a better relationship with the other country. However, new comers have difficulties in finding employment because of their unrecognized foreign qualifications, non Canadian work experienced and the lack of support in the settlement programs where they get help to find employment.
While most try to be helpful, by speaking slowly and guiding using written notes, directions, instructions and invitations, it still requires a lot of effort on the international student 's part to understand the numerous accents. Abundance of slangs is another huge issue. A lot of slang terms, most specific to a region or time period are difficult to follow if one is not aware of the local culture, specialities and quirks. Even if a student settles in Canada for years, most of the local slang will still go over their head. Students must focus on learning the most common ones and learn to differentiate between friendly sarcasm and intended offense, of which there is expected to be very
