Can Humans Regulate The Actual Climate Of The Earth?

Can human beings seize control of the actual climate of the Earth? Many proposals are under discussion on how to stop the alleged failing of Earth's climate. However, unknown and possibly devastating consequences could occur if aiming to manipulate the Earth's thermostat with tentative technologies. Still, environmentalists and climate change activists are urging world leaders to consider utilizing these technologies directly; and they are listening. Research shows there is a scientific lack of knowledge about the Earth's climate system, as well as the underlying cause for changes in climate, and tools used as predictors suffer precarious limitations. Based on the unknown and the possible devastating consequences of attempting to manipulate …show more content…

We have managed to overcome deplorable living conditions and deadly diseases, and life generally is more comfortable, richer and more meaningful. Nevertheless, some insist those incredible past achievements have caused a dramatic change in the Earth's climate, and inadvertently ushered in the destruction of man. Some scientists and politicians, along with environmentalists and climate change activists believe we have made matters so alarming that we must intervene to avoid our own extinction. They suggest we harness the forces of nature by artificially managing the Earth's climate to repair the damage we have allegedly created. Instead, many in the scientific community and political realm see changes in climate as the Earth's normal cycle (Parkinson 3) and that it should not be interfered …show more content…

Earth has had its own climatic cycles long before humans came along, and there have been extremes in temperature similar and worse than today. Many factors can change the climate, both natural and human. To think human activity alone is capable of changing the climate of the planet would be giving our species far too much credit. Natural incidents such as fluctuations in the Sun's intensity on its way to Earth, atmospheric and land surface reflectivity, and changes in the greenhouse effect impact heat held by Earth's atmosphere. In addition, it is not known with any certainty what level of greenhouse gases is even suitable for a stable climate and if temperatures could actually become so bad we cannot survive the change (Parkinson 27). Simply put, it is not certain why the climate is changing and no cohesive support exists to affirm that man or any singular aspect as the main cause. Therefore, before man attempts to battle with nature, the cause of rising temperatures must be determined. If we allegedly caused problems, it only makes sense that we should not try to manipulate the Earth's powerful system; we are unable to predict the outcome and by doing so could be catastrophic. Nevertheless, this is being discussed by world
