Recommended: Chinese integration into American

CSLCTI Scholarship Essay As an American-born Chinese student, I feel that it is important to learn about both of the cultures that I grew up in. My childhood was spent in a Chinese speaking household, but many of our traditions are no longer practiced as my parents began to Americanize their way of living. I hope to gain knowledge of both backgrounds and apply it to building relationships with people from different cultures. The Chinese Summer Language, Culture and Technology Initiative (CSLCTI) in Hangzhou, China is a wonderful program that provides an opportunity for students like myself to have an experience that is similar to studying abroad and promises to be a worthwhile experience. It is an incredible opportunity to study renewable energy while gaining exposure to Chinese language, culture, and student life. Participation in this program will prepare me as a senior for the college-level language course, AP Chinese.
