Gender roles have been an issue for a long time, and men seem to present themselves to be more superior than women. This issue had led to many terrible events throughout history, and one event includes a young college study, Brock Turner. Brock Turner is a 22-year old college student who attended Stanford University where he was enrolled with a swimming scholarship. He has history of using extensive drug use, including LSD, ecstasy, marijuana extracts, and excessive alcohol; he was also arrested in 2014 for possession of alcohol while under legal age (Wilson, p.1, 2016). Turner and his friends were at a fraternity party one night, and this party is where the story begins.

This unnamed victim was a recent college graduate who was visiting her sister at Stanford University. The woman had originally intended to spend that night at home, but changed her mind to attend the fraternity party with her sister. When the hospital began a full examination, she had pine needles on her hair and body, as well as dried blood on her hands and elbows. The hospital also found abrasions and erythema on the victim’s skin. A nurse who administered a Sexual Assault Response Team examination at the hospital determined that victim had suffered significant and penetrating trauma (Lombardo, p.1, 2016). The issues of gender roles come into play as soon as Turner was released from jail. Aaron Persky, the judge of this trial was then questioned for his legal right to continue dealing with legal cases due to his poor decisions to let this rapist walk free without any consequences (Sanchez, p.1, 2016). The victim wrote a heart wrenching letter explaining her loss in this case to Turner, and Turner’s father wrote a note stating that the women was asking for it and it was just a simple hook up (Wootson, p.1, 2017).
