book that I have chosen to read is the one and only, the hunger games. The Hunger Games was written by Suzanne Collins, and was September 14, 2008. The reason this book spiked my interest is because of its genres, of fiction, Adventure, utopian and dystopian, Science fiction, Drama, and Action. All of the best genres you can ask for in a book. Now what will be discussed this book is character analysis, plot summary, and analysis. The main character of the book and its narrator, Katniss Everdeen, is a strong, clever sixteen years old who is far more mature than you'd come to think. Katniss is thin with black hair, grey eyes and olive skin. She has a family of three Katniss herself, her mother, Prim, her younger sister, and of course her cat. She's really good at foraging and hunting, skills she learned from her father before his death years earlier in a mine explosion. Katniss is also the main provider for her family. …show more content…
Then there's peeta Mellark, Peeta is in love with Katniss and becomes her main friend and romantic interest during the Games. Peeta is a 16 year old He is described as being medium height with a stocky build, has light gray with ash blond hair that falls in waves over his forehead, and with blue eyes. Then there's Haymitch Abernathy, A paunchy, middle-aged man who was the victor of the 50th Hunger Games. Since winning made him independently rich, he has spent almost all of his intervening leisure time drunk to the point of embarrassment. Haymitch is also supposed to help Katniss and Peeta in trying to win the hunger

The hero’s journey is a useful tool in analyzing narratives of all kinds, from myths to movies to everyday life. One of the most iconic stages in the Hero’s Journey is the ordeal, otherwise known as the belly of the whale or the cave, in which the protagonist has reached their darkest and most hopeless point – things cannot get worse. Once the hero gets through the main ordeal, their journey home is much more sedated. This can be paralleled to the encompassing plot structure, in which there is a climax, and then the intensity of the story winds down again. This stage is one of the most universal in the hero’s journey, because without conflict and climax, there is no drive or reward within the story. Popular movies such as The Hunger Games,
In a blink of an eye, one’s life can change forever. On September 4, 1957, it was Elizabeth Eckford’s first day at Central High school in Little Rock Arkansas. Elizabeth was among the nine black students who had been selected to enter Little Rock Central High School, an all white school. Approaching the high school, there were hundreds and hundreds of people yelling and chanting against her. Elizabeth was the only one out of the nine that came to school that day so she was known by everyone by her face and name. In fact, her face was on the cover of numerous news channels, newspapers, and magazines not only because of the integrating of the high school but because of how badly most of the townspeople and students reacted towards Elizabeth.
...ays had, but I believe this was Katniss’s turning point. The reason why Rue’s death was the spark that turned Katniss’s almost passive perspective of the Capitol, into this dangerous conviction was the fact that she cared for Rue as if she was her little sister Prim. Unaware of how strong her feelings of Rue were before her death, Katniss lost somebody she cared for, which forces Katniss to realize that the real reason why Rue died is result of the Capitol forcing everyone in the Hunger Games to Kill one another. Katniss discovers who the real enemy is only from this vivid experience. Clearly a pivotal moment of change in perspective for Katniss Everdeen was the Death of Rue, which gives her true insight of where she stands in the eyes of the Capitol, and realization that they are the actual enemy in the Hunger Games.
The Hunger Games, by Suzanne Collins, was a book about trials. The main character, Katniss Everdeen, had to face many challenges and trials, both physical and psychological. In this essay I will be focusing on the three toughest trials Katniss had to face:The physical overcoming of her opponents, the psychological pain of leaving the ones she loves, and the change in herself she had to overcome. The challenges were not easy for Katniss.
Katniss is the main character in the novel, The Hunger Games. The author of this book is Suzanna Collins. Katniss is a 16 year old who has been chosen with 23 other tributes. In my class we have studied themes and key ideas such as Power of the Capitol, Competition against other tributes and Sacrifice for what Katniss acts and does in the Hunger Games. There are many themes but I have chosen these 3 because they show the most emotions and power.
In today’s world, words, phrases, and commonly known sayings have been altered into an abomination of societies issues and thoughts. Some of earth’s most natural pieces have been used to represent some of today’s most popular brands and technology, such as the apple and Macintosh. Like A. E. Waite said, “The true Tarot is symbolism; it speaks no other language and offers no other signs.” A common occurrence of symbols are demonstrated by Suzanne Collins which signify references predominant in Greek and Roman mythology and deliver deeper meaning to the characters and their role in the novel The Hunger Games.
My personal experience and the books I have read provide cogent examples that not only support my opinion but also have influenced me to come to my conclusion on the psychological aspect of mankind’s essential illness. The plot of The Hunger Games revolves around killing other people to escape alive. Much like the boys on the island, the characters in this book follow the same descent into savagery to kill to survive instead of hanging onto the last bits of civilization inside them by following their morals. They completely abandon civilization for the sake of their survival much like Jack does in Lord of the Flies. In addition, whenever I get angry, I have a similar experience. Though it is not for my survival, I sometimes get carried away
A hero is someone who is admired for their qualities, someone who can get through arduous circumstances. In the novel, The Hunger Games, Suzanne Collins demonstrates the protagonist, Katniss Everdeen, as a hero. This is evident as she displays courage and determination.
In Suzanne Collins’ book, “The Hunger Games”, there are multiple themes that accompany the writing. The story is held in a dystopian world, where the capitol (the government) surrounds 12 districts. The capitol requires each district to appoint a male and female teenager to participate in the hunger games, a game concerning fighting to remain alive, which will be broadcasted around the nation as entertainment. After her sister Prim is elected, Katniss Everdeen volunteers to take her position in the games. Due to this, the capitol takes an immediate interest in her. Further into the story, when Katniss is in the games, she forms a close bond with a younger tribute from district 11, Rue. Rue is unfortunately killed in the midst of the games, which leads Katniss to grieve for her death by putting flowers all around her body. As the games go on, Katniss and her male counterpart from district 12, Peeta, are the last ones. Not wanting either one of them to die, they both almost ingest lethal berries, making it seem like they were willing to kill themselves, but the announcer of the games dubs them both the victors before they die. This is something unheard of, since this has
Katniss is a good person at heart. Katniss may have hunter’s instinct; kill anything or anyone who tries to harm the people she cares about. Katniss would risk her life for them. Even in the games, Katniss would not kill the one person who stood in her way of winning. Katniss shows what matters compassion and her humanity. Katniss shows she is more than apiece in their games (232). Katniss remembers what Peeta said on the Roof. Peeta said,” I don’t want them to change me in there. Turn me into some kind of monster that I’m not” (141). Katniss does not want to lose herself, which she never does. Katniss shows she is a good person by forming alliances and taking care of other tributes. Katniss does not think she is good but she really is even if she cannot see it.
Even though Katniss Everdeen ended up winning the Annual Hunger Games, she faced many challenges along the way. Katniss faced one of greatest challenges before the reaping of the games. She was challenged with protecting and caring for her family. Katniss had to regularly get food for her family to survive through starvation. Another challenge Katniss faces is her relationship with Peeta. She doesn’t know if he truly has feeling for her or if he is ”Playing her” to get farther in the games. The hardest challenge Katniss faces by far is surviving the whole games. She has to keep herself alive and beware of her enemies. Throughout all of her challenges, she overcomes them and wins the Hunger Games with fellow contender
One trait of Katniss's that helps project the story's theme of survival is her resourcefulness. Chapter eleven, page one hundred and fifty-five states that Katniss is resourceful with this quote, "Before settling down, I take my wire and set two twitch-up snares in the brush." This quote expresses Katniss's resourcefulness and helps reinforce the theme because resourcefulness is an attribute that is needed in order to survive. Without resourcefulness, Katniss would not have the shrewdness to survive in the Games. Katniss setting snares before she respites
The Hunger Games is an astonishing reading experience that propels the reader to feel the emotions expressed by the characters throughout the novel. These emotions were expertly developed by Suzanne Collins to create an atmosphere of compassion and understanding. Katniss Everdeen was affected by turning points which caused great adversity, demonstrated her resilience and also discipline as a human being. While others would’ve backed down and gave up, Katniss persevered to accomplish her goals no matter the situation. Volunteering as tribute, losing her sister-like friend Rue and threatening her own life for the benefit of all the districts are all examples of turning points. In life we are all faced with points where everything changes, these
Suraj Patel Mr. Metaxatos Period 7 12/7/15 A Dystopian Society We have all read dystopian book or movie, whether it’s the new The Hunger Games movie, or a classic, like Animal Farm. Dystopias have become more complex and realistic, but they continue to share similar characteristics with dystopias written in the past. A dystopia is a society in which humans suffer and live in oppression.
