Productive learning is when a student is educated or trained and becomes someone that contributes to society. Meaning that it benefits both the student and the community. The goal is to invest in a person in order for them to then use their knowledge and skills to give back to the community. First a child goes through years of general education which is usually from preschool until twelfth grade in High school. After high school, one could attend college or a trade school in order to develop their skills in a specific area. An internship or apprenticeship could be part of the training as well so one could obtain hands on experience in real life situations. Productive learning is a great approach in education because it gives students the opportunity to learn in a way he or she understands. Every person learns differently. Another benefit from this type of learning is that it encourages the student to gain experience earlier on in their life. This style of learning also gives them a choice of doing something they are interested in. Lecture style consist of the Instructor standing in front of a classroom and lecturing. They talk throughput the whole class giving important information out verbally. Some instructors prefer to give presentations on a smart board. Students sit and listen while taking notes. In this type of setting the instructor is communicating information to the students and it is usually one sided since lecture halls tend to have pretty big classes and the instructor is not able to get to each student. This seems like an efficient way of teaching but everything has pros and cons as does Lecture style
