Service I believe in service. When you think of service, what thoughts pop into your mind? I think of doing yard work for someone else and delivering a meal to those in need. I think of helping others and being kind. I think of acts done in love. I feel that the importance of service is greatly understated in today's society, especially as the need for it grows and grows. Service is literally the act of helping or doing work for someone. When you serve someone, you are helping them in some way. This could be helping with basically anything. When you serve someone, it doesn't have to be anything big. I personally like to serve people by giving out compliments or even just a smile. When I am feeling angry, my brothers understand. When I am struggling, my parents help me. When I need someone to talk to, my grandparents seem to know just the right time to call. Family is what we are made of. Family helps us up and goes through trials with us. Family is doing your part, even when you don’t feel like it. Sometimes I catch myself being unnecessarily mean or impatient with my siblings. It is in those times that I try to think of how loving my parents are to me, and I try to help instead of harm. We cannot be perfect (no one is) but we can definitely try. Be that person that takes help from others, but also gives just as much. No one likes someone who just takes, takes, and takes some more. It may be hard, but we have to try. “Family is not an important thing, it is everything.” (Michael J Fox). I believe that this statement is true. What would mankind be without family? We all need to make family our first priority and help to better our own family. I fear that we will not realize the importance of family until we grow older and it is too late. There are a lot of requirements to going to college, or getting a job, or being a pro athlete. Having a good education is almost always very high up on that list of requirements. So, even if you want to become an athlete, you have to have a good education. Education is also a great tool to teach you hard work. When you work on a school project or homework (such as essays, presentations, posters, online websites, etc.) it teaches you to work hard on whatever you are doing, even if it frustrates you (that is when I work especially hard). When you care about your own education, then you are more motivated to work even harder. I am a perfectionist, so it is sometimes hard for me to get things done when they are not perfect. Recently, I worked on a project for so long (working out every little detail) that my mom had to tell me to stop working on it! This just goes to show how much I care about my education and getting good grades. Although this is usually a good thing, it can sometimes hinder my work instead of helping it. When you care about your work, it helps you work harder and do better. I know that education is an important aspect of my life.
