Analysis of: Rihanna’s Song “Diamonds” The Barbadian Singer Rihanna, known for her hit songs like “Only Girl,” “Where Have You Been,” and “Disturbia” is one of today’s most well-known singers. She came on the scene in 2005 with her debut album Music of the Sun; the first single released from that album was “Pon the Replay.” This single was very fun and playful with a reggae, dance hall vibe to it, and the music video reflected this as well. With the release of her sophomore album A Girl Like Me came a lot more exposure, and the first single off that album “SOS” became her first billboard top 100 single. Though she had some success with her first two album, it was with the release of her third studio album that skyrocketed her to fame, and made her a household name. The single off her third album that put her on the map worldwide was “Umbrella.”
Rihanna had already put out two albums between 2005 and 2006, but it was not until she went from a good girl to a bad girl that she started to achieve real success in her career. With the release of her third studio album in 2007, Rihanna reinvented her image and her style of music. She has collaborated with artists such as Kanye West, Shakira, and Wale.
