I believe an ideal Army leader should be physically, mentally, and morally strong and have the ability to share and teach them to others especially by example. I find physical and mental activities extremely rewarding because of the challenges I face and overcome to achieve a goal or objective. As a 4-year varsity wrestler, I have learned the mental resilience and willpower to maintain a top physical condition and to give my all for the team. A quote from US Navy Admiral, William H. McRaven states, “if you cannot do the little things right, than you will never be able to do the big things right”. I strongly believe in helping others that might be less fortunate. I have done a lot of community volunteering, such as working in underprivileged neighborhoods to clean up parks and neighborhoods and working with youth. I plan to continue assisting others while I am a student by getting involved in numerous clubs at Western Illinois University. I believe everyone has a moral responsibility to assist others in need, and to set an example for others. My career goal for the next 10 years is to learn all that I can to be the best military officer and to be the best leader I can. I want to earn the respect of those I lead and to have my soldiers know that I will do all that is possible to help them achieve their goals and succeed in the United States Army. I believe the career path I am taking by serving my country in the Army will help the others by first protecting the rights of every citizen in America and protecting the world’s greatest nation.
