How does the right to privacy protect a women’s right to have an abortion or not?
I want to start off by saying that I do not believe in abortion. Human Rights Watch (2005) states that, “Women’s organizations have fought for the right to access safe and legal abortion for decades, and increasingly international human rights law supports their claims; but in most countries and jurisdictions, abortion is allowed at least to save the pregnant woman’s life, or where the pregnancy is the result of rape or incest.” Policy 263 states: “The ACLU holds that every woman, as a matter of her right to the enjoyment of life, liberty, and privacy, should be free to determine whether and when to bear children.” (Epstein, 1981).
