Argumentative Essay: The Murder Of Adam Lanza

In the school shooting at Sandy Hook elementary school, 20 teachers and young children were killed. The infamous killer who committed this mass murder was a 20 year old man by the name of Adam Lanza. He had been planning this for some time and used his mother's arsenal to do it. He shot his mother first, then proceeded to the school where he shot the kids, and eventually himself. This was a fatal and tragic incident that ended many innocent lives. Adam Lanza is a villain that had a plethora of mental health issues along with dangerous interests, such as pedophilia and mass murders, which all failed to be addressed properly. Adam Lanza had an unusual interest in pedophila, but never acted on it. This is known because an “exchange between [...] have led some to conclude that Lanza's attack on children may have been his way of acting out a depraved sexual fetish.” (Lysiak). Lanza was very lonely and did not have romantic relationships with any other people. He was believed to also be asexual. He understood these and “believed mass shooters were sending a message of resistance. They were declaring that they wouldn't play by society's sick rules. They were fighting back.” (Lysiak) He supported these mass killings, and gave himself “valid” reason for why there are and should be executed. Lanza’s thoughts were that society was evil and he needed to save the young children from it. Due to his firm belief in his “worthy” cause, there was nothing subconsciously preventing him from carrying out the massacre. He was convinced that he could have done this vicious act and it would have a positive outcome. The outsiders perspective knows that this is untrue.
