Imagine a day where you felt like you couldn’t go on. Now imagine that day never ended.
That is what life feels like for those that decide to no longer be apart of this world. Suicide is a way out, but it’s the wrong way out. It’s easier to sleep than it is to be awake. It’s easier to bury problems than to face them. It’s easy not having to make decisions. But for those that have to live knowing a loved one couldn't is an unbearable reality. Suicide is an epidemic that gets placed under the rug because no one likes talking about death especially those that chose to end their lives in the most unnatural way possible. People that suffer like Evan Perry should be sought to be understood instead of preaching to them. A major motivator for suicide is depression especially for young adults. Depression can stem from a multitude of things. Depression is not just being said but a complete loss of all motivation. Motivation causes an individual to wake up, shower, eat, socialize, and much more. Without that motivation hopelessness wreaks havoc. Those that suffer from depression will often have a susceptibleness to the disease. Factors such as genetics, biochemistry, environment, and personality play a huge part in depression (Parekh, 2017). Depression can be treated in numerous ways. A common treatment for depression is by medications called antidepressants. These medications can work as “uppers” or tranquilizers. This type of medication often requires prolonged usage and can even cause serious side effects. A poor environment can be living situations to family issues. In the case of Evan Perry his parents also played a role in decision to commit suicide. Since individuals that chose to end their lives are between age 15-24 which is the age most individuals like with a family. With a family comes issues and many issues are extremely serious. Many individuals that have suffered abuse in the past have attempted or successfully committed suicide. Many domestic issues such as molestation or spousal abuse play a key role in an individuals mental health. Abuse is not always within the family and can happen to anyone. When Lindsay Armstrong a 17 year old girl was raped her pain was too much to bear. While she was in court giving a testimony she felt as if she was being raped all over again. The defense lawyer questioning her made her handle the pair of undergarments she was wearing as the time of the attack and show them to the jury and judge. The following day she was found dead in her bed by her mother. She had purposefully overdosed.
