Highland High School, Forest High School, Great Mills High school are just the names of the few school shooting happened this year. There are a total of 21 school shootings in the past five months. Which is about one shooting per week. Impacting families and friends and the safety of other students every week. In attempt to solve this on going issue, thought and prayers are what people doing. Which obviously did not solve anything. Although, students have started taking action by protesting and walking out to share awareness and to make a change. Mental Health is also a big factor in gun violence. Although, even if people are mentally ill, having stricter gun controls could have avoided the whole situation. Some might say, “we need better treatments for mentally ill people,” or “The shooting was not their fault, they were mentally ill.” The point is that if a mentally ill person did not have a gun but perhaps a knife, the chances of him hurting someone else
