Parents are constantly faced with the responsibility for making decisions for their children throughout their lives. One of the most vital decisions would be whether or not to send their child to preschool. Although some might say that preschool centers interfere with a child's social skills, when considering the benefits it is essential to send them to preschool because it is in the child's best interest both academically and socially. Overall, preschool will have a positive outcome on account of the language and cognitive skills preschool contributes, along with a structured learning environment for educational growth, and finally the freedom of play time that stimulates young minds. With this in mind, its plain to see how not sending a child to preschool can make he or she any less aggressive, or more capable of sharing and cooperating. In order for children to reach their full potential, preschool can only be a helpful tool. The National Educational Association website stated, “All children tested comparably on mental and motor tests; however, the tests from preschoolers had much higher scores on mental tests. Follow-up assessments completed at ages 12, 15 and 21 showed that the preschoolers continued to have higher average scores on mental tests. More than one-third of the children who attended preschool went to a four-year college or university.” In order for children to reach their full potential it is imperative that parents understand the benefits of preschool education. The curriculum that is presented in preschools helps children learn basic concepts to improve their education and their overall academic skills for the future ahead. It has been proven that preschool helps a child's brain develop, and even in the future these kids will go on to succeed academically later in life. Preschool is incredibly vital for a young person's mind by improving the child's self worth, emotional advancement and social interactions with others.
