Apple is changing their environment, throughout their entire organization, by measuring their carbon footprint on the environment. Apple is the first company in the industry to reduce their footprint by showing the impact their product line is having on the consumers’ use. They will continue to measure and identify areas that can make the most significant impact for reductions. Apple is in accordance with the regulations and restrictions that government agencies have put in place for the components used in the manufacturing of their products. Companies will be able to continue their joint venture with existing companies to make components for existing products as well as any new device. They will be able to maintain secrecy by outsourcing it to China where companies’ product lines are now produced. By having both hardware and software, Apple has a sustainable competitive advantage, because of the replication of software used in all their new and existing products. Other companies are lacking this component, and this is why Apple is the number one leader. Companies who are sharing their resources so they can cut costs allow capturing of economic of scales on their products. Companies can create value for the customer in different niches for this new product and keep sustainability for their entire line of products while not being able to be imitated. This new product would appeal to all walks of life, not just a few consumers. The company’s implementation of this new product will need to use porter’s five forces for manufacturing this product. Companies through their brand, who have a wide variety of markets, will have a consumer base for their products. When a new product is launched, naturally the consumer will want their brand’s product. Building this product will also allow them to maintain their carbon footprint on the environment. Using a company’s value chain will help form alliances with firms through joint ventures to build components for this particular new product line.
