What’s So Great About Annie, The Musical?
By: Kerrianne Skidmore I wish that Annie the musical could be my elective all year long. As I did whatever needed to be done in this play, I thought a lot about what made this play be so magical. Was it Allie Gilbowit’s amazing voice, or Rebecca Hensley’s sly sarcasm in her dump of an office? Tessie’s whining or the beautiful sets? For me, I feel like it came in the form of all these things, and more. It was a marvelous experience because I was in charge of music, delighted in my costume and being a choreographer, and felt like I was someone else as I acted as a Star-To-Be and Servant. I enjoy being in charge of music because I have played the violin ever since I was seven years old, and it is an extraordinary feeling to feel like you are using your talents to make this special opportunity even better. I am the conductor of my own unique and tiny one-man orchestra, after all. To me, this is something that works well for me due to the fact that I am more introvert than not, and working by myself other than with people that I don’t know well works better for me. Don’t get me wrong, other people are great, so more often than not a little nibble in the apple of being social is tolerable. It’s more than tolerable in this situation, though. I enjoyed it that much! Grace Farrell unbelievable dance moves, Kiaria's confident voice as an Usherette, and Violet Wolitkzi's spot-on light cues all made this show even more magical than I thought possible. I feel lucky to have been able to be given an opportunity to make it as spectacular as it could be. I feel like I was able to help reach that goal, even if it was only in the form of someone in charge of music, beamed in my costume and as a choreographer, and became someone new as a Star-To-Be and
