“I believe in America because we have great dreams, and because we have the opportunity to make those dreams come true.” Just like Wendell Willkie, I believe America really is “the land of opportunity” and that is why we have immigrants from all around the world looking for a better home here. This liberty is what makes America as great as it is. We also could not have these opportunities if it were not for all the freedom we have due to our valiant veterans. This is the America I believe in and love. Every hour, approximately 82 illegal Mexicans cross the border onto America soil. We have some of the best technology; medicine; schools; military troops; talent; and entertainment such as movies, music, and sports. Many of the best inventions on earth -from the television to the airplane to even fast food- were made in our great nation. Our great country has possessed some of the most outstanding intellect on the planet, such as Albert Einstein and Benjamin Franklin. America is a land of ideas and opportunity in which these marvelous ideas may become reality. As Americans, we are fortuitous to have all the rights freedoms we do. We are also fortunate enough to have laws and documents such as the Constitution or the Bill of Rights securing these rights. We are also lucky enough to live in a country where we have a president, the Senate, and the House instead of a single powerful king. These rights and freedoms are the reason we call America “the land of the free”. I believe in an America where all people are welcomed and treated fair and equal, no matter their gender, race, origin, religion, or wealth. I believe in an America where citizens work hard to get things done well. I believe in an America where we are free to do almost whatever we want because of our brave veterans.
