ASOS would be considered as part of the tertiary sector as the company sells clothing, shoes and accessories. The tertiary sector includes shops, entertainment, personal, professional and social businesses. ASOS is a large global company which sells products over the internet only. ASOS has a market capitalisation of £5Billion and a revenue of £1445million (31 August 2016), this shows how popular and successful the company is. ASOS has a mission statement ‘to become the number 1 fashion destination for 20-somethings globally’. This mission statement is clear, they want to be the best in fashion. A mission statement is a summary of the values and aims of a company. The mission statement of a company is usually directed at those looking to buy shares rather than the customers themselves. An aim is a goal that will be attempted/intended to be achieve. Firstly, ASOS is looking to further reduce their prices in the US. This will help to increase sales and could possibly increase the over-head of the company. ASOS also aims to increase sales by 20-25%. ASOS also had many past aims that they achieved, some being to introduce menswear, ASOS curve and a style chat; these aims have been completed and because of this, ASOS has gained a larger market to sell to which has increased their over-head. ASOS also has many different objective, an objective is a specific outcome that the company aims to achieve in a time frame, such as a financial objective to quadruple the size of the company in five years and increase sales to £1Billion within that five year target. ASOS is also looking to continue the sale of their shares on AIM to raise finance.
