First day of the rest of my life, my stomach is in knots and I can’t seem to do anything with my hair. I have all my pens, papers, notebooks and other miscellaneous items stuffed into my brand new blue book bag. My mother is down stairs on the patio drinking her morning tea watching the world wake up. I gave my brand new shoes a quick shine, checked my hair about three more times each time finding something new wrong. Mother yells at me from down stairs.
“ You’re going to miss the bus!”
The bus! I can’t believe my ears. I can’t show up to high school on my first day by riding the bus. I was scared I needed my mother to drive me to school. Somehow knowing my mother was going to be there part of the way made it a little bit easier for me to go. I need her in a way to hold my hand as I embark on a new chapter in my life. Plus I was a little brat and felt too good for the public transportation system. My mother could sense that I felt uneasy and drove me. The drive to the newly built high school was just under fifteen minuets away. As we traveled my mother gave me some tips to make it through the day. She told me to introduce myself to my teachers on personal bases, to sit up front and to eat a good lunch. As we arrived at the entrance I felt my breakfast wanting to jump out of my stomach. I was shaking and on the verge of tears. Mother gave me a hug and a kiss on the forehead, told me everything was going to be just fine. I jumped out of the car and stood on the sidewal...
I come home from college and see my mom cooking dinner over the stove as I walk up the stairs. My tiredness sets in as I rush to my room to put down my heavy bag. My mom yells to me as I start to change my clothes.
Mankind has always found a way to better and prolong our lives through science and medicine. With the growing interest in complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) that has occurred over the last decade, one could easily say that “unconventional,” or non-Westernized, approaches to healing must be a new phenomenon never before seen in American society or around the world. The reality is, however, that the current rise in fashionability for unorthodox treatments is merely the latest of three waves of mainstream popularity in the past century-and-a-half (the first was the mid-1800s, the second the early 1900s in the United States). Although it is true that the present environment differs in certain critical respects from previous times, there are still plenty of parallels in which historical patterns are mirrored across time by the interest in CAM today. Alternative medicine can be defined as “medicine not prescribed by a medical professional and used more so as therapeutic remedies.” The difference between CAM and western medicine is that
I went to see the play “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever”, on November 27th at The Eisemann Center in Richardson, TX. The performance was put on by Creative Arts for Christ and they are using this play to share the Gospel through their God given talents of acting. They had two different casts depending on which day they were performing, while I was there it was the red cast that performed. This play is based off the famous children’s book and how a family of misbehaved children end up going to church, hearing the Gospel for the first and acting in the Christmas pageant. The venue at The Eisemann Center was laid out very nicely, I liked how the chairs were at an angle where you did not feel very far away from the stage. They also had a unique
For example, the central conflict and the main action of the play happen right in the first three scenes of act one, when Hermia’s dad Egeus goes to complain to Theseus that his daughter does not want to obey him to marry Demetrius a young man who has his consent to marry his daughter. Yet, Hermia is not in love with Demetrius, she is in love with Lysander, a young romantic and funny nobleman who is also in love with Hermia. On the other hand, Helena who is Hermia’s friend is deeply in love with Demetrius, but he does not love her as he is in love with Hermia. As a result of this conflict, Hermia and Lysander decide to run off to the woods to escape from their hierarchical society, where Demetrius and Helena later join them. Once in the woods, the story complicates things for the four lovers as Oberon, the winter fairy, tries to make Demetrius fall in love with Helena. But, this does not go according to his plan, as his servant Puck mistakenly puts the love potion on Lysander while he is asleep. This mistake causes Lysander to fall in love with Helena when he wakes up. In the effort to fix his servant’s mistake, Oberon enchants Demetrius with the love potion, and he too falls in love with Helena, when he wakes up. In the end, Oberon is able to lift off the enchantment of Lysander
I woke up Tuesday morning excited for the day I was going to spend with my mom. I was sitting at the kitchen table drinking fresh coffee listening to my mom and aunt tease and joke around about how paranoid my mom was about doing well in her classes, my aunt was telling her that maybe now that I was there, she would relax a little bit and have some fun. Our plan was to go to one of mom's classes with her, and then on a tour of UNC and then we were going to go to dinner and a movie.
The compensation committee has a difficult task upon its shoulders. It must construct pay programs that attract and retain the best talent to address the individual organization’s needs. It must design a strategy that generates superior returns for investors, appropriately measure managerial performance, and institute a pay practice which is fair to both employees and shareholders and which really drives business results (Mercer p.4). There is abundant theory and research on the strategies thought to accomplish these goals, and the emerging trends in executive compensation seem to be highly successful.
The following Monday my mother taken me to the bus stop to be sent to the school. Once I boarded the bus, I immediately felt uncomfortable as I had clearly drawn attention from the group. The trip became longer that I expected because tensions had become higher as even more eyes had be drawn to where I was sitting and with every second my heart began to race faster until we reached our destination and I left the bus to go to school and there I stood at Wolf-ever Creek elementary
A lot of people search through life trying to find something that means something to them, something life changing. I experienced my life-changing event when I was 3 years old. I was in a terrible car accident. Realistically, being 3, I do not really remember what all happened – I remember a few details though, the feeling, the pain, and my parents reactions. Their reactions were crucial in the development of my realization of this life-changing event. All through my life I grew up with this crazy thing that had happened in the past and all I had were my parents’ recollections on the events that occurred. But, youth is just kind of weird like that – you tend to hear more about what you experienced than actually remembering it. My parents really
After I was all dressed and ready for the big day, I made my way upstairs to eat breakfast. The smell of toast, sausage, eggs, and hash browns filled the air with an inviting aroma. Just as I was setting down to begin eating, my mom turned to me and asked how my morning was going so far. My reply was,” It feels li...

Today was the worst day of my life. My mom gave me good and bad news. The bad news was so horrible. The good news was very surprising. The bad news was so bad, that I started crying. My mom told me that I was MOVING!!!
There has been so many life changing experiences in my life it is hard to keep dealing with it. Here recently I have been losing a lot of very important people I love or they are getting hurt in some awful way. I have lost my first wonderful cousin, Chris, my brothers wife, Molly. Also Grant, my sister 's boyfriend, is hurt really bad still today. I can not stand seeing many of my loved ones hurt and I do not know how much more people I can lose.
My most life changing experience was when I moved from the sunny skies of North Carolina to The Blizzard, more formally known as Germany in the middle of my second grade year. My Step-Dad was active duty in the military. Of course, he had to drag us with him. He flew out to Germany first so for about three weeks it was just Mom and I . Just about every day Mom would say “Two more weeks till Germany, Tarix”, “One more week till Germany, Tarix” (Rich, Andrea), which I really never took to heart. I was too caught up in deciding what my Barbie was going to wear that day and riding my new tricycle to have time to process her words. Of course ignorance is bliss until
