Major problems identified:
The major problem identified, focused on how to secure water to places that need it while providing it on a timely manner. Providing water to places that need it and on a timely manner will become a challenge when considering an increase in population, a shift in water demands, environmental stewardship, and climate change. The 2005 water management plan was created to provide guidance on how to ensure sustainable water supplies by the year 2030.
Much of the water demands in the state have been met through inter-regional projects which are key to California’s water management system. However, they alone will not be able to meet future water demands. For that reason is that this water plan urges the rise of regional …show more content…

After the 2005 California Water Plan Update the state began to implement some of the items that were suggested. For instance, to deal with flood management DWR launched a multi-faceted initiative, the FloodSAFE program, to improve public safety through integrated flood management. The program is statewide effort geared towards reducing the negative impacts of flooding. In addition, the state also published Managing an Uncertain Future, a white paper that holds a series of recommendations for State and local water managers to adapt to climate
