Imagine my bedroom downloading as a file on your computer.
At fifteen percent of the file’s download, the furniture begins popping onto your monitor.
The wall, desk, chairs, and shelves are all monotonously white. You think to yourself: “How insipid this room is!” The doors, lamps, and garbage bin all reinforce this impression. You begin to see specks of dust appear on the floor along with the occasional piece of trash, though not so much that you would call me a slob.
At twenty-five percent, my laptop and books come onto your screen. All the books on the shelf are academic preparation manuals for the final exams and for the SAT. Neither excites me, but studying hard builds my patience and teaches me to manage time. Moreover, the SAT builds on my English lexicon, enabling me to better express my ideas. Along with the books comes my thick, black notebook named Charlie after my favorite comedian, Charlie Chaplin. (I named it in his honor because they are both thick, black, and always remain silent.) I keep Charlie beside my bed so that when I awake from my dreams I can record them, capturing all the fresh feelings and sudden emotions. Just as Charlie Chaplin said, “We think too much and feel too little.” My notebook ensures that this is never the case for me.
The download is now at forty-two percent, and my four pairs of shoes - fashionable, casual, sporty, and uniform - appear. The brazen sporty shoes are four years old and heavily worn from my Body Combat martial arts class, where my addiction to the program led my trainer to call me BodyComaniac. I transformed myself with the program – inside and out – leaving me a more active, energetic person. As the youngest member of the class, I easily befriended other students of my...

...with a illuminated mind. I want to continue my education in America because my own country is facing too many limitations in technology, and I want to learn my content to the best of my abilities. A Computer to me is like a virtual world, in which lie limitless possibilities. I often look at my computer projects contentedly, envisioning the day when I would be seated in a tall building with my name engraved above it and as I freely control various high-powered devices. My academic books could never make me feel this way and so they are a completely different hobby.
The file download is complete! You now have a sense of me: a blasé-colored room dweller, young BodyComaniac, diligent student, emotional writer, strategist, painting starer, air piano player, and a technology enthusiast. I do not drive, I sleep late, and just the act of buying a new software satisfies me.
For example, renovation can also be a disadvantage; all our old walls or floors can be change to “antimicrobial fixtures in many standard renovations” (231). This show how people starts to disagree with the benefit of microbes in their own house. It makes them uncomfortable and tries to adapt new methods such as renovation, to make them look in a healthier environment.
Author, Joan Didion, in her essay, On Keeping a Notebook, expands the importance of keeping a notebook. Didion’s purpose is to elucidate why having and using a notebook is essential and give examples of how to keep one. She adopts a forthright and didactic tone in order to emphasize notebook keeping with her audience. Didion provides rhetorical question, flashbacks, and the use of pathos to support the purpose of writing her essay.
For an extended period of time shoes have been an integral part of the modern consumer’s life. According to the vast majority of fashionably inclined individuals, shoes can either make or break a person’s entire appearance, which explains why people invest their hard earned coins into comfortable abodes for their feet. Particularly, the annual budget consumers spend on shoes in the United States is approximately $20 billion dollars, and $6.46 billion dollars stem from running shoes alone. This is what initially piqued my interest and compelled me to interview a manager from one of most popular shoe stores known as Footlocker. As a side note, the interviewee was only willing to share the information because he is no longer an employee of

The hoarder’s homes are dangerously cluttered and are often safety hazards. According to, Cleaning House, “Hoarding can also lead to serious public health and safety violations, think newspapers piled near kitchen stoves or rats infiltrating apartment complexes.” (Webley, 2010, p.43) From first responder’s experiences, “many homes look like ant farms, with only narrow pathways visible through the stacks of clutter.” (Kirk, 2011, p.234) This shows that there are very high risks to not only the hoarder but the people who live with or near them. This is a small idea of the potential health hazards hoarding can have on the
Thanks to Google, we are able to get esoteric data on almost any subject matter one desires. With countless takeout and shipping options, it is easier than ever to get food and supplies to our doors without ever leaving the house. What draws all of these things together? When you can do almost anything from a computer in the era we live in, what is the sole barrier to getting that pizza in your stomach or from reading an expert thesis in your field? You must communicate your desire to your computer before getting the gratification. By learning English, you can open up countless new ways of getting what you want, when you want it. This is the beauty of the information
A clean home is something that should come easy for anyone. Most people would consider anyone with a dirty and cluttered home to be lazy or filthy, but many are unaware of the psychological disorder Hoarding, which affects about 5% of the population, both men and women (Neziroglu, n.d.). Hoarding is the act of one having difficulties separating from their belongings. Although many confuse hoarding with collecting, there is a significant difference from the two. Those who collect, gather a specific product as a hobby or a profession, but those with a Hoarding disorder keep items without a notable worth and it accumulates in areas that were previously used for living. It is believed that hoarding is caused by a deficiency with a person’s information processing or led by a cognitive disorder, or a disturbing emotional shock (“The Hoarding Project”, 2016
Another important thing to me when writing, is that I can not have any distractions near
Upon moving in to her home she is captivated, enthralled with the luscious garden, stunning greenhouse and well crafted colonial estate. This was a place she fantasized about, qualifying it as a home in which she seemed comfortable and free. These thoughts don’t last for long, however, when she is prescribed bed rest. She begins to think that the wallpaper, or someone in the wallpaper is watching her making her feel crazy. She finally abandons her positivity towards what now can be considered her husband’s home, and only labels negative features of the home. For example, the narrator rants about the wallpaper being, “the strangest yellow…wallpaper! It makes me think of… foul, bad yellow things” (Gilman). One can only imagine the mental torture that the narrator is experiencing, staring at the lifeless, repulsive yellow hue of ripping
To start, the characters and situations present in a novel is a reflection of the writer themselves which would eventually become an inspiration for a plot for a story. The first day of the semester I had been asked “who you wanted to emulated in my daily life”. This was a question which was not harder to answer than expected, that needed to be questioned to determine the answer. A common idea that was discussed in the course: “Writing one's problems onto paper is an easy way to find the solution.” by transferring one life(or problems) to a medium which in this case writing it analyzing it in another way. This is important as changing the perception in any scenario is beneficial more so for literature since both the writer and reader are the audience who act as the observers being able to question unbiasedly relating these situations encountered by the characters(fictional or not) to their own experiences. Following this advice I frequently would write down problems in order to visualize data presented from a particular situation whether it is to make a schedule to figure out how to make my own time more productive, personal situations and how one would reasonably react in a situation but most recently what I wanted out of a Post-Secondary Education while filling my applications online. Having to determine the next five years of my life while determining what would be the best option for my future. To find this I made a list of what I wanted from this experience. Upon making this list, comparing it to my selection I was able to determine what computer program would be the right fit. Literature can also be a reflection of a writer at a given moment of time as is a representation of the thoughts and feelings of an individual. An ex...
... (Demet Leblebici, 2012). “The indoor environment has the biggest effect on productivity in relation to job stress and job dissatisfaction”, says Leblebici, and “that the more satisfied workers are with their jobs the better the company is likely to perform in terms of subsequent profitability and particularly productivity”(Demet Leblebici, 2012). Lastly, Leblebici showed findings that “interaction was perceived to be the component to have the most positive effect on productivity, and distraction was perceived to have the most negative” (Demet Leblebici, 2012). The opposite of clean is dirty and dirt is a distraction in the workplace. According to Jennifer Benton, Sophie Harvey, and Simone Schnall, the authors of With a Clean Conscious, “cleanliness reduces the severity of moral judgments and can be driven by intuitive processes, rather than deliberate reasoning”.
Working with computers has always attracted me, I liked taking notes on M.S. Word rather than on a piece of paper. Along with the interest of working on computers, I had an interest of solving puzzles in newspapers and magazines. This interest in finding solutions to the puzzles fueled my interest in problem solving using C. My first puzzle on a computer screen was the 9-Queens Problem, the best part about the puzzle was that I had implemented it using my basic knowledge in C language which I gained in school. This fueled a desire in me to learn more about computers and come up with solutions to even more complex problems.
Technology is slowly being integrated into every area of our lives. From how we communicate to one another to how we shop, technology is now the center. Wherever one may go or may see, a new advancement of technology has been made. Technological workers are often heard saying that the changes that are being made are to benefit its consumers; to ultimately make their lives easier and more efficient. These advancements have now been introduced into education. Schools all over the world are now including a new e-learning opportunity for students seeking college degrees. This gives students the opportunity to earn a college degree without putting other aspects of their lives on hold while attending school. Though this seems beneficial in that
Albert Einstein once said, “if a cluttered desk is a sign of a cluttered mind, of what, then, is an empty desk a sign?” Einstein was suggesting something against our social convention, as we all know that the majority of our peers and colleagues judge us partly based on how organized our desks are. Coincidentally, David Freeman also argues that messy people are more productive than neat people. In daily life, those with an extremely messy desk are considered to be careless and undisciplined. In order to increase study or work efficiency and productivity, our parents, teachers and supervisors all tell us to clean up our desks so that we can be more concentrated at work and thus more efficient. Almost all parents train their young children to
I come from a family where education is always given top priority. During my primary and secondary education, I was a proud recipient of several awards for academic and extracurricular activities. I attribute my strong academic profile to the perennial support from my parents. My interest in computers grew as I did some basic programming assignments.
