Why this is important This research is important in finding out key facts in the workplace that can guide the way we establish policies, conduct business, and govern ourselves within organizations. In general, research is about discovery. Throughout this research paper, I will discuss through analytical research methods the effects of cleanliness, happiness, and satisfaction on productivity in the workplace. What theoretical area you will be looking at Managers of organizational behavior want to know the nature of the attitudes of their employees toward their jobs and towards the organization overall. Job behaviors and attitudes of employees in organizations are a top priority in order to achieve the individual and organizational objectives through their performance. For my research I will be looking at three main constructs: cleanliness, happiness, and satisfaction. Thus this paper investigates the relationship between cleanliness, happiness, and satisfaction on employee productivity. What people are talking about When it comes to cleanliness in the workplace we want to know the actual benefits reaped from employees on job sites. Cleaning work areas on a normal basis help prevent dirt buildup, grime, and dust, but there are several other reasons employees should be concerned with cleanliness at job sites (work.chron.com). The biggest topics of discussion are: Infection control, injury prevention, professional reputation, legal compliance, and employee satisfaction. It has been said that people tend to take more pride in their work in a clean work environment. Workplace cleanliness is very important for employee morale. With all that has been written on cleanliness, happiness, satisfaction, and productivity concerning h... ... middle of paper ... ... (Demet Leblebici, 2012). “The indoor environment has the biggest effect on productivity in relation to job stress and job dissatisfaction”, says Leblebici, and “that the more satisfied workers are with their jobs the better the company is likely to perform in terms of subsequent profitability and particularly productivity”(Demet Leblebici, 2012). Lastly, Leblebici showed findings that “interaction was perceived to be the component to have the most positive effect on productivity, and distraction was perceived to have the most negative” (Demet Leblebici, 2012). The opposite of clean is dirty and dirt is a distraction in the workplace. According to Jennifer Benton, Sophie Harvey, and Simone Schnall, the authors of With a Clean Conscious, “cleanliness reduces the severity of moral judgments and can be driven by intuitive processes, rather than deliberate reasoning”.
